Yeah I was just fucking around :)
But I did talk to the WFFC people 2 weeks ago (Fri - 22nd) and they told me the lawyers were meeting that following monday to finialize things. *shrug* who knows.
They really need to get their PR up if they wanna keep a good crowd, I know a bunch of people who are so fed up with it they are going to the "other" boogie instead.

Roger was saying that last year, too.
I wish that roger and kirlin would kiss and make up, so that we don't have to chose between two killer boogies.

FallingMarc and I went to the Rantoul Village Board meeting last night. This email that Marc later wrote to all of the club members has all of the important info:
Quote

Ok, so I heard through the grapevine that the Rantoul Village Board, or
whatever they like to call themselves, was going to talk about the WFFC
tonight. Brian and I went to, you know, represent. Unfortunately, all that
was said was basically that there's still negotiating going on and they
don't really have anything to bring to the board until next week. I did
talk to the administrator afterwards, and he said that they will be talking
about it next week, and we are welcome to come out then. There's also a
spot on the agenda for people to come up and comment on anything the board
will be talking about that night.
I'd like to have as many people as I can show up that night, if for nothing
else to let them know that there are people in the community that have
reasons to want the convention here. I don't know that there's anything we
could say that they don't already know, but if anyone wants to speak, that
would be most excellent.
Well, let me know if y'all want to go. I've been talking to a U of I
student from Quincy who has worked at the WFFC in past years, who got a call
from Don Kirlin asking her to try to find some people to go support the
convention at the meeting tonight; that's how I found out about this. She
wasn't able to make it tonight but she said she would go next week. That's
at least two, but like I said, I'd like to really show them that there's a
bunch of people that care about this. Anything to help the odds of bringing
the convention here.

If any of the Chicago area jumpers want to come down and show support for the WFFC, that would rock. The meeting is a 6:00pm next Tuesday in Rantoul, email or PM me if you want directions.

Yeah, I was going to post something on here about that--anyone in central Illinois who can show up in Rantoul next Tuesday night would be much appreciated. A couple of the trustees brought up some concerns, and I'd love to see a bunch of area skydivers show up for numerical, moral, or even verbal support....
Anybody in the area, let me or Brian know if you want to go, or need directions, etc.

And this is an excerpt from the weekly update from Chicagoland Skydiving in Hinckley, IL:
"As a footnote, Chicagoland Skydiving has been asked to run the
skydiving school again at this years' World Freefall Convention. It's the 3rd
year we've done it, but this year is even more exciting due to the fact
that it's being held at a new location in Rantoul, IL. We feel honored
to take part in this event and feel that it is quite a compliment to
the safety and professionalism of our skydiving school!"
It may just happen...the year after i graduate from U of I. ugh.
