hottamaly 1 #1 March 7, 2002 Ok, you book writers, go easy on this one, but describe your 1 prettiest skydive to date.Mine is on a broken cloudy day and looking out to spot the plane and seeing the planes shadow with a rainbow circle around it, then jumping out to be surrounded (at a distance) by big white puffys.Awesome!!!SKYDIVING GAVE ME A REASON TO LIVE.... skybytch 273 #2 March 7, 2002 You already know mine Linda but for everyone else...It was a tandem on one of those "hole hunting" kind of days. It broke up enough that we could get altitude and still see the dz so up we went. I was jumping with a female college student. We left the plane, did the freefall and opened the main. We'd been blown a bit west of the airport so we were over some clouds as we opened. Did what we had to do with the canopy, practiced the landing and then both of us just started gawking... At one point we had big puffy's on either side of us, we were flying through a "valley", looked to the left and saw a silhouette of the canopy surrounded by a rainbow circle (sun dog?). Beautiful!!!After we landed the student went to her friends and bragged that she'd been on the prettiest skydive ever! imho she was right pull and flare,lisa---Mondays suck
skymama 37 #3 March 7, 2002 Mine was a rainbow jump too. But, I can't wait until I get the chance to do a shuttle launch jump...that will be awesome.AndreaThe brave may not live forever, but the timid may not live at all.

flyhi 24 #5 March 7, 2002 Sunset cross-country along the northshore of Oahu, from the Bonzai Pipeline west. Came up short (as did we all..."who spotted this mess?") and landed on the beach. Had to cut through a backyard party to get to the road to get picked up. They invited us all back, but I don't think anyone went. The entire party was already pretty toasted.Just take it one day at a time, like the drunks do.flyhi
TheMarshMan1 0 #6 March 7, 2002 I'd have to say, ironically enough, my prettiest jump so far was my graduation jump from AFF, in DeLand. Irene was my JM. It was late late afternoon, and the sun was setting. The sky was an orange-pink color and there were just a few clouds mixed in with a layer of definite haze. I was facing east and I could see the ocean clearly. The sun was at my back, and it lit up Irene's face, her smile, and the clouds below us. That was the first time in my life I'd ever felt so free, and its an image that I will never forget. We passed through the haze layer and clouds at 6,000 and a few seconds later she tracked away as I pulled, and enjoyed an awesome canopy ride. I think of that jump often, since I'm stuck up here in NY, and it makes me smile knowing that soon I will be back down in FL, and back in the air. Life's a bitch- be its pimp.... homer 0 #7 March 7, 2002 I'm still a newbie to the sport with only 34 sport jumps and 24 round. I would have to say it was my first RW jump. I gave the call and Vern and I went out. once stable I looked up and there was jason coming down to us. He leveled with us, slid around Vern and docked on my right. They broke away did a 360 and docked back. To see jason come down and slip around Vern, then dock was the shit. It's no big deal now but that was my 14th jump and the first jump with another jumper in the air. Those few seconds made every thing I had gone through to that point worth it. I had at that moment fofilled a dreamI guess I had several firsts in that jump so BEER to everyone.Bite Me
Keith 0 #8 March 7, 2002 My first night jump. The marine layer was hovering near the coast. I decided I would just do 360's until pull time. You could see the ligths of densly populated Tijuana to the south, the moon glimmering off the ocean to the west with the lights of San Diego lighting up the bottom of the marine layer, leaving the top of the marine layer contrastingly dark, the skyline of San Diego to the north and the moon lighting the desert with a few house lights sprinkled around to the east. Absolutely breathtaking. Keith
rendezvous 0 #9 March 7, 2002 Well of my very few that I have being new to the sport the prettiest one I had was the first tandem of the AFF or AFP whatever it's called, which was also my first skydive ever. I came down looked back up at the sky and heard myself saying "I'm definitely going to like this sport"
MrHixxx 0 #10 March 7, 2002 Very cool, mine was similar. In my student progression of static lines, I ended up above a layer of, uh um... industrial haze... There I saw my sillouette under canopy inside a rainbow ring right before I passed down into the uh layer of stuff... F!@#$ing amazing unforgettable image...-Hixxx"Sous ma tub, Dr. Suess ma tub"

FallingILweenie 0 #12 March 7, 2002 A 6 way headdown. We launched it with a row of 4, where i was in the middle facing off with the other middle guy, and then 2 others behind each of us. The camera guy essentially did laps around us docking everywhere on the row. THe video friggin rules, and i geeked the camera a couple of times. Probably my favorite dive to date. That and the skydive i did in Chile at the end of december. Seeing the andes mountains then turning around and seein the pacific ocean was something i hadnt seen before---i jump in illinois for chrissakes!blue skiesTomasblue skiesTomas
billvon 3,090 #13 March 7, 2002 >Ok, you book writers, go easy on this one, but describe your 1 prettiest skydive to date.It would be a tossup between 2.The prettiest on a picture was at the 112 ways at Perris last year. It was hard to fly, but looked very elegant. Picture is at http://futurecam.com/skydive/011101/pages/871-2.htmThe prettiest from my perspective was on one of the Lang demos. We exited an Otter at around 16K, with just barely enough of a hole to see the DZ. We pretty quickly built a 20 way and held it. There were clouds on all sides, close enough so we could see our speed. One side of the formation punched one for a few seconds. In the distance you could see massive blue/black thunderheads, and lightning in the spaces between the clouds. In the other direction the sun kept peeking in and out of holes in the clouds, and at times it almost seemed like the formation was flashing in the sun, first one side lit up then the other. The air was the kind of clear you only get in Montana. At breakoff I turned and started to track. I was facing a long valley with 1500 foot hills on both sides, and I got the very eerie feeling of tracking _down_ the valley, walls rising up on both sides of me. Then I opened, and set up for landing on the upper area. (A few of us were landing on the upper, tight area, and the rest were landing at the bottom of the hill.) I landed and saw a woman running over to me with a beer. I had told her earlier that would be my price for doing one of her AFF's for her. Then I turned around and watched as everyone else landed. Larry landed the Porter next to the brewery and we all headed inside to drink beer. (It was free for the jumpers.) It was a good ending to a great day.-bill von

hooked 0 #17 March 7, 2002 I don't have that many jumps to pick from, but I must say the scenery here at Kapowsin, with Mount Rainier right THERE, has got to be pretty scenery. A clear blue sky and a mountain for a backdrop!J

Shark 0 #19 March 7, 2002 Full moon, rw jump at 1030 pm. I pulled at 7 and screwed around up high and landed after the plane. Manifest freaked since I didn't tell them I was pulling high, but later surprised when I came lumbering into the peas.
ChromeBoy 0 #20 March 7, 2002 Sunset hop and pop at 14,000 over the Florida Keys. The sun looked like a fireball sitting in the gulf and the sky was orange and blue. All you could see was water in every direction and a little piece of land below you to land on.That was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen or experienced. freeflir29 0 #21 March 7, 2002 I did have some nice scenery on a couple military jumps. Off the coast of Vieques Island (Carribean), Jump into Bay DZ I think it's called in Ft. Walton Beach and my jump into Alaska. The first view I saw of Vieques and Alaska was out the door of a C-17 at 1200 ft. Jumping over the ocean is way cool!!! Trying to keep your weapon and equipment from going to the bottom of the ocean can be a challenge on the other hand. rhino 0 #22 March 7, 2002 Opened just out of the plane at 14,000 feet.. I was in the seat at 13,500.. It was a cloudy day. "I did take pictures" I flew through what looked like a small cloud and it opened up into a billowing white, rolling, puffy cloud.. I could actually see the updraft as I flew into the upward moving cloud I gained 700 feet of altitude by the time I got out of the thermal or whatever it was.. When I broke through that cound I could have sworn that was heaven.. It was the most beautiful, refreshing, free feeling I have ever seen or felt in my life.. Freedom..
