BIOS updates

Recommended Posts

3 words - DON'T DO IT !!!! I flashed my BIOS (with the correct one) with the utility on the CD that came with my board. However, the utility stopped responding 1/2 way through the update, so now my pc is screwed until I get a new board. Thanks gigabyte. Thanks a lot :(

I have an Abit board and it does rock other than not cooperating with my GeForce 2, but my Matrox card with dualhead support works fine. Now all I need is room for my second monitor in the dorm :(.
BTW, you probably don't need a whole new motherboard, just a new Flash ROM chip for the bios. Some motherboards have a soldered on flash rom, but most can be yanked out with a chip puller and replaced.

my favorite board is my six four Charlie Baldwin comp weight Thruster. Or is it my Gnu Pharoah 143. Or is it my HO VTX with dual high wraps? Or is it maybe my Dean Lavelle signature Hyperlite?

pcs .. pcs .. and web "surfing" ... ROFL ... stick with the thruster - think those other 2 wouldn't float anyone too well ... LOL .. my favorite board is a 6'4" custom MTB I had made while I was on the east coast ... worked great for Hatteras and such ... but now that I'm in Texas it's useless ... too mushy for it down here ... :(
As long as you are happy with yourself ... who cares what the rest of the world thinks?

Never ever flash bios unless something's not working and you've tried everything else to fix it.

That's it ... it was a last resort. Things been playing up in windows. Plus I was thinking about getting a Duron 1.3 of my friend for real cheap, and you need the BIOS update for it to support this CPU.
