Here is to all the code hackers out there. Check out this site and then show us all your new car afterward: http://www.meganet.com/challenges/ferrari/ferrari.htm.
A little snippit.....
Virtual Matrix Encryption, or VME, is the industry's only commercially available, unbreakable encryption engine. Utilizing a combination of Virtual Matrices and a 1,048,576 bit symmetric key, VME is impervious to brute force attacks.
Have fun and good luck!!

Assuming that brute force is the only reasonable method of breaking the code (i.e., there aren't any mathematical shortcuts or weaknesses within the algorithm), a megabit key would take basically forever to break with current technology. Of course, they don't give out the details of the algorithm, so that makes it even harder.

Not only that but the rules are really vague so even if you do crack it, there is no gaurentee that they have to accept your winning entry. They could say you cheated to get the key. (been used before to avoid a payout of $100000)

unbreakable encryption engine.

Well they've done fucked themselves now... nothing is unbreakable.
When someone does break it (which someone will, maybe not by August 1st but it will be broken, look at jaws technologies http://www.jawstech.com of course I couldn't load their site - wouldn't be surprised if they don't exist anymore; they offered 1 million if anyone could crack their code) their company (and it's technology) will be worth nothing.

Not only would I get my dream car if I broke the code but I would probably have a 200G a year job with these guys. Either that or I would have one hell of a bounty on my head
Who ever said comming down from a high was bad obviously never tried this.

This code could actually be broken in a reasonable amount of time with existing technology. It's just that the technology is still being developed. Anyone ever heard of DNA computers. This is just the sort of thing that DNA computers could be useful for, but the process of using DNA for practical applications on this type of thing is still a few years down the road. It's some damn cool stuff though.
Check this out.
fun stuff. :)20 million bathtubs can't be wrong. . .

Or hijacking something like the seti@home network to crack it :)
Those that dont know, SETI@home is, its a program you DL that lets you take a piece of the "puzzle" and work collectively to process large amounts of info. that way instead of having 10 or 20 computers trying to work on a problem, you have 10 or 20 THOUSAND computers. (actually I think its in the millions now.
