Memorial Day at Eloy?

Recommended Posts

Since my average driving speed is 80-85mph on the highway, then I could probably get over there faster...I'm thinking probably around 14-15 hours. That's not too bad, shit I drove something like 30 hours this week alone (longest stretch being something like 10 hours). The biggest problem is keeping that left door shut, since I always seem to get very hungry when I drive. The other problem is I would spend close to $100 one way for gas (stupid low mpg, nice power though...great for towing/off-roading/etc crappy for the budgy)...
Well, we'll see what happens, I'm going to try to make it, though.

I'm looking at about $80 oneway, well that is going with an estimate of $20 per tank, don't know how much gas is heading that way, so it could be alot less. Still much cheaper than a plane ticket and stuff. :)Hey maybe we can work something out down the road.

Yeah, then I also have my "RV" (read: bed of truck) and freedom, instead of depending on someone to pick me up, etc. And I can bring all the gear I want to bring without having to worry about how big it is and if the airline will mistake it for some sort of terror device...This would be a great way to kick off summer.

It's a 31 hour drive from chicago. 1864.34 miles. My car gets 22 MPG, so 84 gallons of gas. $1.60 for the high octane, makes $135 each way, never mind the four days of driving.
I think I'll fly, thanks.

I would do the drive straight, no lay overs, so it would be just one full day of driving, no prob there. If I need to do anything, I'll pull over and take a couple hour nap. I can do things like open my tail gate to help with fuel economy and still be able to drive at speed. (Strangely enough, the time I got the best fuel economy is when I had about 400lbs of stuff in the bed of my truck with the tailgate down b/c I had my couch sticking out the back of the bed. Got something like 17mpg, which is great for my truck.)

>the one good thing about living in HOT HUMID houston on a no wind day . . .
Hot and humid gives you the fastest possible landing (hot moist air is the least dense, although it doesn't feel that way.) I'm not sure if that's what you were trying to say . . .
