freeflir29 0 #1 March 17, 2002 Where is everyone planning on staying? I would just as soon "pitch a tent" but I'm trying to keep my amount of luggage to a minimum. Nothing like trying to drag 4 tons of crap through an airport. Oh...and before I forget...Who wants to snuggle? bbarnhouse 0 #4 March 17, 2002 I'm going to live at the DZ in a trailor. The bunk house isn't too bad for $5 bucks a night if you don't mind not having and privacy. Hell pitch a tent it's plenty warm.It only takes a little pixie dust......
skybytch 273 #5 March 17, 2002 Depends on if I share a ride and with whom. If I take my car I may just take an air mattress and a sleeping bag and call that home pull and flare,lisa--I'll be in the bar... you'll find me...
Monk 0 #6 March 17, 2002 Do I sense a DZ.com gathering at Eloy? As you all know Eloy is where the Monk is. And I remember seeing something about a 3 point 10 way DZ.com record? We could eat that record for a tasty chewy treat.Monk

Slappie 9 #19 March 17, 2002 I'm seriously thinking about this "Gathering" it can't be a DZ.com "Gathering" With out Slappie and I enjoy driving.. at night mostly.. but I think we could drive it through.. I used to drive to San Diego straight through in 24hrs at least 6 times a year... Had a best friend stationed there in the Navy and we would make trips just for the hell of it... nothing like cruising through the Az desert at 3am stoned jamming to some funky music hahaha....Only thing I need is a rig to jump if I don't buy one between now and then. This is starting to sound like FUN I think skycat, Tequilagirl, hooknswoops {aka pookie bear} are planning on the trip too. Wonder if we can get zennie, ramon and a few others on the idea... Slappie 9 #20 March 17, 2002 Lisa!! If your going to be there think you might be able to smuggle me a Sabre2-170 demo... I might be able to borrow a rig without a main.. *hint* *hint* ramon....My New Website with 24hr Chat
skybytch 273 #21 March 17, 2002 Square2 has lots of demo canopies... Just remember folks - the msl altitude (ground altitude) is a bit higher at Eloy than many of you are used to - add in some desert heat and that demo canopy is gonna fly quite a bit faster than you are used to. No skydiving injuries are allowed during a dz.com party weekend!! pull and flare,lisa--I'll be in the bar... you'll find me...
nacmacfeegle 0 #22 March 17, 2002 I'm seriously looking into this gig. Thinkin' bout flying up from Houston. Flights aren't the problem, its the time off work thats the biggest concern.Any reasonably cheap motels nearby?Clay, one for the balloon...woohoo.CyaDIt aint what you fly, its how you fly it! skycat 0 #23 March 18, 2002 Quotethe msl altitude (ground altitude) is a bit higher at Eloy than many of you are used towoo hoo...the one good thing about living in HOT HUMID houston on a no wind day. Which is fine for me, but poor old wuffo slappie *duck* better go with the bigger canopy....Lisa, you got a 210 in that arsenal of canopies? ok anyway Hooknswoop and myself are going, TequilaGirl is going as of a week ago . She will probably fly, but I'm pretty sure Derek and I will be riding with rgoper. If that doesn't work out we will also drive so I can bring the tent and stuff.Ok I'm going to run and hide before Slappie hunts me down and kills me. AggieDave 6 #24 March 18, 2002 Once I've registered for summer classes, I'll have a better idea if I can make it or not. Isn't it like a 20-some hour drive there from here? I'm going to try my hardest to get out there, so we'll see what happens. "Give me one ping and one ping only..."
skycat 0 #25 March 18, 2002 QuoteIsn't it like a 20-some hour drive 18.5 actually per mapquest. That is with an average speed of ~60 mph. If we go in the RV the only stops we will make is for gas since none of us smoke and the potty is on board. Even if only Derek and I drive the mustang, I'm almost positive we will get there faster *evilgrin*, and same rules will apply only stops are for gas. Also I know they must take the slowest time possible cause it says Houston to Fargo ND 1300 miles 24 hrs. I by myself with taking a nap did it in 20 hrs, this includes having to take 2 lane roads threw Kansas. So Eloy 1100 miles will definitely take less the 18 hrs if it is all interstate. Anyway I was thinking more along the lines of 16 hrs, that is by car anyway, not sure about travel time with an RV.
