YahooLV 0 #1 March 17, 2002 You know about the trial, now you know the verdict, and the truth. Many things have happened in skydiving over the years, we must learn from them and hopefully learn from the mistakes.
skybytch 273 #2 March 17, 2002 That's good news. Any other verdict could have had a horrible effect on the sport.Make sure your family knows that you mean it when you sign those waivers!!!pull and flare,lisa--I'll be in the bar... you'll find me... Magistr8 0 #3 March 17, 2002 The whole situation right from day one always sounded funny to me. Drunk skydivers going up in a plane and jumping. A mid air collision that resulted in death and an attempted coverup. Please, is what I was thinking. As skydivers we are fun loving people and love to party but when we go up the first thing on our mind is safety. The whole situation seemed to indicate that these people were out to cause an accident and anyone in the sport knows that that just would not have been the case. Another example of looking in from the outside. If you don't wanna be in the sport that is fine but if something happens don't try to make it look bad and look for untruths.Who ever said comming down from a high was bad obviously never tried this.Magistr8

wildblue 7 #5 March 18, 2002 What the shit?!?!QuoteThe Plaintiffs were aided by USPA Vice President John DeSantis. The Attorney for the Plaintiffs' represented the documents offered by DeSantis as being an "Official USPA file". PhreeZone 20 #6 March 18, 2002 Yeah... nice to know that the USPA will help people wanting to sue DZ's huh? Although.... I read in the BOD minutes he was "Talked to" about this issue.I wish you would step back from that ledge my friend... ~3EB

Haeloth 0 #8 March 18, 2002 Could it be that the USPA would want to test the waiver in court in a case that was possible to win? Will this verdict make it more difficult to sue DZ's in the future?"Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!"
freeflir29 0 #9 March 18, 2002 QuoteWill this verdict make it more difficult to sue DZ's in the future?I don't have a law degree but I have been to court numerous times ..... You bet your ass it will. A precedent has been set and every time a case like this comes up it will be referenced. Guaranteed. AndyMan 7 #10 March 18, 2002 No. The USPA did not support DeSantis being involved.John DeSantis was hired as an "expert witness", and was paid quite a bit for his testimony. And people have the audacity to say he shouldn't be on the board. mnischalke 0 #11 March 18, 2002 While I am happy that the waiver has been tested in court and passed, this is still the dropzone that has posted: Quote BECAUSE OF PAST PROBLEMS WITH "FUN JUMPERS" BREAKING OUR RULES; SLV WILL NO LONGER ACCEPT FUN JUMPERS WHO HAVE NOT GRADUATED FROM OUR SLV STUDENT PROGRAM Please correct me if I am wrong, but this is the same dropzone which lobbied the Nevada legislature to ban the above sort of skydiving.Maybe this has something to do with certain actions taken by certain people. Just a thought...mikeThe Lord giveth and the M-79 taketh away. Welcome to the world of zero slack.
