Remember, we live in a land where popularity, not intelligence, decides who our leaders will be. (As a comparison - were the most popular kids in your high school also the smartest?)He is also the guy who came up with the following gems:-----------------------------------------It's clearly a budget. It's got a lot of numbers in it.The senator has got to understand if he's going to have he can't have it both ways. He can't take the high horse and then claim the low road. This is Preservation Month. I appreciate preservation. It's what you do when you run for president. You gotta preserve.I would have said yes to abortion if only it was right. I mean, yeah it's right. Well no it's not right that's why I said no to it.It is clear our nation is reliant upon big foreign oil. More and more of our imports come from overseas. You teach a child to read and he or her will be able to pass a literacy test.--------------------------------------Not the work of a brilliant man. Of course, there's nothing that says our president has to be particularly smart, if he's a good leader and makes good decisions on who to listen to. I just hope his advisers are smart people.-bill von
SBS 0 #30 March 19, 2002 "He has the right to do what he is doing but is it what he should be doing? No"I see what you mean, and completely understand where you are coming from. I think this is a great question, but one that we are not in a position to answer with any sort of certainty. "Should" is very subjective. There are going to be positives and negatives regarding all decisions that the President makes...I'm not so sure that being silent regarding his beliefs would be the best option either.Just a thought.Steve
Jimbo 0 #31 March 19, 2002 QuoteNot the work of a brilliant man. I am certainly not the biggest "W" fan around, but, things are getting a little one sided here. With regards to all the stupid quotes, he is after all human, unfortunately his every move is caught on tape. I'm sure that with a little searching I could find equally stupid things said by Clinton, Daddy Bush, Reagan, Carter, etc....QuoteOf course, there's nothing that says our president has to be particularly smart, if he's a good leader and makes good decisions on who to listen to. When it comes to talking about intelligence, though, I find it funny that people would refer to the elected leader of the free world as an idiot. If he is, I just hope that I can be half as stupid as he is when I grow up, cause he has acheived what very few people ever dream of...I'm sorry, you don't do that by being a complete and total moron, as some would make him out to be.Steve
billvon 3,120 #33 March 19, 2002 >When it comes to talking about intelligence, though, I find it funny that people>would refer to the elected leader of the free world as an idiot. He is no idiot. There's a difference between being canny and being intelligent. Plenty of leaders of industry have low IQ's, and plenty of high-IQ people are miserable failures. I support him as president, and he has done some good things. It would be foolish to hope, though, that he understands the issues surrounding global warming or nuclear waste transmutation vs. vitrification and storage. As I said, I just hope he has good advisers.>If he is, I just hope that I can be half as stupid as he is when I grow up, cause he has acheived what very few people ever dream of...Monica Lewinsky achieved fame most movie stars only dream of achieving. More people know the name of the .44 caliber killer than know the name of the man who essentially invented electricity and electromagnetics (including all radio, TV and wireless communications.) Fame isn't something that I strive for, and I don't think it's a good measure of ability.-bill von
