Emmie 0 #1 March 18, 2002 I drove down to my home dz today to drop off my new rig to be packed & instpected. This was my first time back since last November. I was kind of nervous, but the second that I stepped throught manifest door, I felt like I was home again. It's weird how you can love a place so much. There was a jumper there that I didn't know that well, I think that we only met a couple of times, but he remembered my name, which doesn't seem like that big of a deal, but I was really touched. I can't wait untill I can jump there again. It was just like the old times again. The worst part was the drive home, everytime I leave that place, all I can think about is coming back there again. Skyrose7 0 #2 March 18, 2002 I know how ya feel. Can anyone identify the dz "scent"? Maybe to some it is more of an odor, but I love it when I walk into the dz and there is that familiar smell. I get a faint whiff of it every time I open my rig to pack it again. First jump of the season for me is in 12 days. I am counting down...The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP.
Darkzone 0 #3 March 18, 2002 Same here!I'm STILL a student with only 40 jumps since June 2000 (long story, won't bore you). I have gone as long as four months between visits but the DZOs still know me and call me by my first name which is great! And yeah. the DZ does have a smell all its own (especially the new manifest which I got to paint last time the weather closed in)Whooooohooooo!!! Hahahaha!!!
Sebazz1 2 #4 March 18, 2002 I love that feeling. I sometimes I head over to my old home DZ when my current DZ gets fogged in. They treat me like family and it's like I never left."I know I am intelligent, because I know that I know nothing" -- socrates
ChromeBoy 0 #5 March 18, 2002 I have been to eight different dropzones in the past six months and I have never been treated as anything but one of the regular dz skydivers. That is what is so special about our sport. Every once in a while you will run across a Sky God but there is always more people there who are open to jump and party with you than are not.-I'd like to buy the world a coke.
