Ditch the salaray section. Put a compressed salary requirements at the bottom of the page. Take the amount of money you'd jizz for, then double it. Create a salaray range by taking the "holy shit I can't believe I'll make that much", and subtract and add 10,000. Think you're worth 40K? Your range is now 60-80K. This is a starting point for negotions. If you ever get to discussing this, you know you're in. Salaray discussions are one of the clear signs of a deal.
Secondly, adjust your tables. You're using very poor use of whitespace. Shrink your top margin above the address block - address blocks are basically headers, and should be right up at the top. Also expand the tables around the address block.
Shirnk your left and right margins. This will allow your table to "flatten out".
Consider ditching the table borders. they just add clutter.
Use a sans-serif font (like arial) for headings and a serif font (like Times new roman or Courier) for paragraph text. Sans serif fonts give strong first impressions, serif fonts are easier to read.
Cut down on the use of bold. You're going way overboard with bold.
Get a keyword list of technical skills. Recruiters use database searches to find candidates, and a keyword list will help yours turn up.
Consider cutting off some of your older jobs. Do you really think your meat cutter position is gonna help you get that kick-ass new website design job?

well, I have to get this right TODAY-lol
I have an interview after classes tommorow , here is the details of the position:

first, the lady asked me how much cash I wanted, well, the amount I said as a minimum she basically was like "no problem".
what does a position like this pay?
Should I include all aspects of my work experience into this resume or just focus on IT accomplishments?
I want to make this one stick!-lol

guess you agree with me on ditching the templates.
there are no borders on it when printed or viewed at 1024 768 on my computer or Anns, but I guess if they show I need to make sure they dont!-lol

like if after each previous job held i added a section on how it is relevant to the position for which I am applying?

When I was doing this kind of job 6 years ago I was getting 18/hour.
Now... $20-25/hour? or $40,000 - 50,000 salaried is my guess.

One page. Everyone I have ever talked to has said that unless you have many years experience in the industry you are looking for a job in (10+), your resume should not be over a page. And even if the years of experience is there you should only do a second page if absolutely neccessary and specifically suited to the job you are trying to get.

Two pages is perfectly acceptable for a resume. But no more.
If you need to ditch stuff off the bottom, that's fine. Better to ditch the meat cutter position then go to three pages.

Alright here is my advice. Also be warned I have not read all the posts, just dont have to keep up with every thread these days. Advice follows:
A) Be yourself....I cannot stress this enough!! Granted I am only a few months out of school, but I am absolutely convinced of these. Be honest and be confident. Everyone is so worried about what I should say or write. If the ask you something you are not sure about, tell them that. I promise that is better than having to admit it when you are supposed to be maintaining.
B) In conjunction to the above point, make your resume a picture of you. There is no right resume template. That idea started from the succes of the people that were making their resumes represent themselves. You want your resume to grab attention, but in a clean, classy way. You hear one page, two page, one font, more fonts, blah, blah. DO what is required to communicate an interesting picture of who you are. I felt my resume needed mutltiple fonts to visual seperate information, so I used them.
C) For the position you are interviewing for, this might be too late, but always shoot high, once you admit that first figure they will base from there. Also, do research on the job. Everyone here is saying 30K-40K, but a lot of the depends on the size of the company, etc. The market is tight right now, and especially going to school (assuming part-time job) I dont see you getting 30K. If so, more power to you, but do research and dont be afraid to ask for what you need.

I wouldn't say salary discussions are a sign you are in - the salary question is becoming a standard one in interviews, they may be trying to narrow down the field since they normally have a budget for the position.
Best bet if asked how much you want is, "The best pay possible for my position." then force them to make the first offer - from the moment they make an offer to till you accept, you are in a position of strength- since they have demonstrated that they picked you as the #1 candidate.
I like Andy's suggested formula though - I think I'm gonna go threaten to quit if they don't do that with my salary - then I'll be making more than the CEO :) So Andy, you guys hiring?

Definately not. In fact, they're having trouble paying me.
I had a recruiter call me this morning about a position in Ottawa, Canada. I'm considering accepting it.
six figures goes a LONG way in Ottawa...
My dilemna is that if I leave the people I'm with now, they're done - they'll have no choice but to give up and declare bankrupcy. If I stay, bear out the slow parts, there's a chance I'll be flying to WFFC in my new Lear Jet...
ARGH!
My experience with salary negotiations are they'll ask two questions: a: how much do you want, b: how much did you make at your last job. c: is the percentage above b: that they'll offer you. This translates to: (a) is the opening to negotiations, (b) gives them an indication of what it'll take to actually sign you. The closing number is usually (b) plus (c) a percentage between 10 and 50 based upon how badly they want you. Quoting a high (a) ensures you end up at the high end of (c)
Make sense?

We just gave all of our PC support personal a raise. They are around $14-16.50 an hour for full time and about $11.50- 13 for part time and are at the mid-range of the average pay scale for our locations. Go look at This site to get the feel for average money in any major city for any major job...

Good call. I'd forgotten about that site.
And for the record, salary.com reports entry level tech support in chicago is 36K-47K salaried, so I wasn't that far off! :P

As for your resume, I'd listen to what everyone else is saying. Focus on where you want to go with it (WEB design???). LIST what you did for the web designs and any major portion that you were repsonsible for.
I.e.upgraded user forums to make design easier to use by BLAH BLAH BLAH... Get rid of the salary stuff....
Someone else mentioned that hiring mgr's look for any reason to trash a resume. They're right.
Nothing personal, but you wouldn't have made my first cut... the last position I hired, I had to sort thru > 400 resumes.
IF it's any indicator, recruiters here in the Bay area are starting to send me emails again asking if I know anyone who'd want so n so job.....
I'm not talking about your pig tails, I'm talking about your sex appeal.... hit the road and I'm gone....

Yeah, till Rev Can gets a hold of you :( Then you will end up making about the same as the kids at McDonalds.
