jerolim 7 #1 March 3, 2014 Hi riggers, can this spectra be used for canopies : http://estore.twinline-usa.com/products/braided-spectra-1000-lb-spools I know this is 1000 lb (it will be used for soft links manufacture - DINX). Just trying to confirm that this is same 1000 lb spectra as one from paragear. Thanks
Alexg3265 0 #2 March 4, 2014 Looks the same... Order a yard from paragear and a yard from there and compare them... They're sure a lot cheaper. Let me know what you find out!I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. My dad wouldn't let me use the ladder to try the roof... councilman24 37 #3 March 4, 2014 Looking at them isn't going to tell you a thing. Ask both sources if they are made to PIA-C-1200. And if they can provide a batch certificate. You can find lots of things that "look" the same. Are willing to trust someone's life to looks?I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

You can find lots of things that "look" the same. Are willing to trust someone's life to looks? Thank you, I was hoping someone would say that, so I wouldn't have to. Some people used to go to the hardware store to get cheap replacements for the French Rapide links to connect lines to risers. Only problem was, even though they looked the same, they weren't. The hardware store variety were much weaker, and could break, causing... well, you know the rest of the story. The moral of the story, like Councilman says, is don't risk using sub-standard gear just to save a few dollars.
