jfields 0 #1 March 22, 2002 Going along with Chuck's "Picky Eaters" thread, what is the nastiest food you have ever eaten?Mine is sea cucumber. It had a really unpleasant taste and the consistency of old unflavored gelatin. The most difficult thing to deal with was the texture. The most disgusting taste itself had to be the time when I was traveling to Equador and had to take anti-maleria pills every week. I think the disease might have been better.Justin

SpeedRacer 1 #7 March 22, 2002 I was a marine biologist & didn't know sea cucumber was a food. It's an echinocerm, related to the starfish. I guess if something doesn't move too fast, someone somewhere will try to pass it off as food Probably a lot of yucky foods. Lima beans suck unless they are in baked beans. Chitlins are pretty nasty.Speed Racer"Fill your hand, you son-of-a-bitch!"
Muenkel 0 #8 March 22, 2002 The nastiest food I ever ate was Baluga Caviar. I don't give a shit what the haughty taughties think about this, but it is GROSS!!!Skydivers...they're just plain cool!Chris

Go figure. Asian food is actually my favorite though. I guess I just like it.Justin
skymama 37 #10 March 22, 2002 If something sounds nasty, then why would you eat it?That's like when my son comes up to me and says, "Mama, smell this." I've finally learned that it is NOT going to be a pleasant smell when he says that, so now I just say, "no thank-you!"AndreaThe brave may not live forever, but the timid may not live at all. jfields 0 #12 March 22, 2002 QuoteIf something sounds nasty, then why would you eat it?I was young and my parents made me. But lots of things that look or smell weird are actually really good. Hardshell crabs, shrimp, scrapple, etc.And I'd think women would want to encourage guys to be tolerant of eating things that smell a little unusual at first. GrumpySmurf 0 #13 March 22, 2002 G/f is Taiwan-ese and she said it was a big thing for tourists to go to the market in Taipei to watch snakes, cats, dogs, what ever get slaughtered and chopped up for cooking. A bit warped for my tastes.

Muenkel 0 #15 March 22, 2002 A little hijack here:Why do people insist on sniffing their milk and wondering if it is bad? And if they are not sure, it is a huge decision whether or not to dump it. I say just DUMP IT! What are you going to save, a buck, only to risk having to put your head in the toilet?Skydivers...they're just plain cool!Chris
AggieDave 6 #16 March 22, 2002 Actually, sour milk doesn't make you sick. It may make you gag because of the texture but it won't actually make you sick. Sit down and think about all the crap that is made from sour milk. The list is fairly long."ahhhhoo...the little guy hasn't done anything yet and you know its going to be good..." ChromeBoy 0 #20 March 22, 2002 I love sushi but there is some out there that is nasty. I ordered sweet shrimp one time thinking it would be regular shrimp and when they brought it out it still had the eyeballs on it and was as raw as raw could be. Nastiest thing even with a ton of wasabe on it.

JDBoston 0 #25 March 22, 2002 The nastiest food I've eaten, hmmm.. to take Justin's subtle, funny joke one crass step further: do you want a name?Seriously, kimchi is the most wrong "food" I have ever knowingly put in my mouth. It's like Korea's national dish or something. Fermented cabbage buried underground for a while. Plus some other nasty shit and a lot of spice. I ate it on a dare.Joe
