ltdiver 3 #1 March 24, 2002 First, please forgive me if this was already posted and discussed last year. In my browsing today, I found this news article and thought it brought up some interesting points. However, the measure of what a life is worth was a bit disturbing in this paragraph:"The cost per life saved by a Cypres AAD is a surprisingly low $125,000. A small fraction of the $1.7 million for air bags. And even a better value than the $150,000 cost per life saved by seat belts."The entire news article can be found here. Entitled: "Why Skydivers don't trust automobile airbags"http://www.lvrj.com/lvrj_home/1999/Mar-12-Fri-1999/opinion/10710393.html____________________________________________LightDiverCam

AndyMan 7 #3 March 24, 2002 I think those numbers refer to a calculation of the total Research and Development + Production costs of a product divided by the number of people it saved.I don't think it's a judgement on the value of a life, simply the effeciency of a device measured by it's cost to produce vs the lives it saves.I was surprised the Cypres costs were so low._AmICQ: 5578907MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfeYahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
