prost 0 #1 March 27, 2002 Found out today I have a torn PCL. I hurt it several years ago. Since I have been back in the Marine Corps my knee keeps hurting and I can not sprint or run up a hill. Doc says six month recovery. This sucks big time.William

Iflyme 0 #5 March 27, 2002 That sucks! I learned today the ligament I tore on Sunday isn't as serious as first thought... had a good workout with the physio-therapist, and she feels it's pretty minor! Sorry to hear your's is hooped again, Prost ... "There's nothing new under the sun"
Shark 0 #6 March 27, 2002 Prost,Bum deal, dude. I had ACL reconstruction on my right knee several years ago. It really sucked for a while, but it gave me a goal to persue. Medical technology has really improved and I see people healing much faster and getting back to normal. Running uphill isn't a problem. Downhill sucks for an ACL injury. Plus they used part of my patellar tendon and have a huge scar as a result. It's not so bad anymore and I rarely use my brace. Start your therapy early and spend a lot of time in the gym. (It really helps if your therapist looks like the St. Pauli girl!) You will do fine. Just be mentally tough!!

ltdiver 3 #8 March 27, 2002 Thor! So, how the hell did you tear your PCL? Owiee!!! Not as common as ACL's (but of course you already knew that).Just one word of caution...if you can get your ortho to use either cadaver or hamstring tendon advancement to repair the damage it would be a much better outcome than if you use the 'older' repair technique of patellar tendon graft. Let me know how your recovery goes!ltdiver(physical therapist)____________________________________________LightDiverCam
Donna 0 #9 March 27, 2002 Sorry to hear about your torn PCL. I recently had ACL reconstruction so I can empathize with knee problems. Here is a link to a good knee site if you're interested. http://www.cincinnatisportsmed.com/pkneeb.htmGood luck!Blue Skies,D

ltdiver 3 #11 March 29, 2002 Nah...just thought I'd get up close and personal by swiping that off your personal profile . I'd love to hear the story on the name, though. I -think- I read a novel way back when, with the main hunk of a hero having that name ltdiver (ala "Tatton")____________________________________________LightDiverCam
