quade 4 #26 March 28, 2002 QuoteSome people on DZ.com are too smartYa know, I don't think I've ever met anyone I thought was too smart. I've met a lot of people I've thought were too stupid, but never too smart. This planet needs more smart people.quadehttp://futurecam.com
Sebazz1 2 #27 March 28, 2002 I changed the subject line because I thought it might have been a little rude. But it was aimed at two super intelligent posters. But sometimes people are so smart that it intimidates others. I am impressed mostly myself. And in awe.SEBAZZ.......

But, I can tell you that he's a hottie!AndreaThe brave may not live forever, but the timid may not live at all.

billvon 3,107 #31 March 29, 2002 Just had to add three more books:Looking for Mo - Daniel Duane. Very good book on what climbing's all about.Escape velocity - Mark Dery. Interesting Gibson-colored look at the future, with some very funny essays (did you know Terminator 2 was a parable for the battle of the sexes?)K2: one woman's quest - Heidi Howkins. Another good climbing book. (I helped edit it too!)-bill von
skymedic 0 #32 March 29, 2002 I just read Tenzing Norgay's sons book...great book about the 96 climb..and the making of everist book...also Andrea boukrievs book "The Climb" is another great read....very good and informative as opposed to Krakauers crap...(I really dont like that guy very much).....marcBSBD
sangiro 26 #33 March 29, 2002 Quoteas opposed to Krakauers crapInteresting how Jon Krakauer managed to split opinions in the climbing community around Into thin Air. I also read The Climb and Anatoli Boukreev was a great climber but not much of a writer. He tries to hard to justify his actions in 1996 in this book. The West Ridge is also worth a read if you have more capacity for Everest books. Safe swoopsSangiro
ChromeBoy 0 #34 March 29, 2002 I have read The Climb as well. What do you have against Krakauer Medic? Just wondering?
sangiro 26 #35 March 29, 2002 QuoteWhat do you have against Krakauer Medic? There's a large section of the climbing community who holds the position that he was lying in his tent sleeping while others were dying on Everest in 96. He maintains he was drained and could barely move. Anatoli actually went out twice that same evening to try and help/find others. Even though Krakauer was the one sleeping through these events he was very critical of Boukreev's conduct as a guide on the expedition.Safe swoopsSangiro
