What to do?

Recommended Posts

I have finished my PFF last fall ( OCT 19th ) and loved the fact that I can jump on my own now however I have seen so many people talk about what a tandem jump feels like that I think I wanna try one. My DZ opens up in 3 weeks and think it might not be a bad idea to try it then since I have not jumped in 4 months. Has anyone else ever had something like this happen? Also would a tandem jump count in my log book even though I am off student status?
Who ever said comming down from a high was bad obviously never tried this.

I've never done a tandem myself, I went straight to PFF and I've thought about that.....for a second. Why now that you can jump on your own, would you want to hang off someone else. Your on your own now. In full control of whatever it is that you want to do!!! You can also go lower which gives you more time or you can pull higher and play with your chute. (just be sure to tell the other jumpers what it is you are going to do) But the point is you are your own boss now!!!
Enjoy the freedom!

Two of my friend's nearly did'nt do their AFF untill they both did a tandem,
It's up to you in the end but it's allways nice just to blow the cobweb's out of your system.
I belive the freefall time add's to your total freefall time (i could be wrong though). :D

Time your self from when you leave the door till when the canopy opens... Basiclly 60 seconds for belly from 13500 or about 45 seconds for head down per jump. Tandems are about 50-60 seconds depending on what the TM pulls at. Protracks keep a log of this for you....
I'm sitting at like 3 hours 53 minutes and some odd seconds right now.... really low too...
I wish you would step back from that ledge my friend... ~3EB

there should be a freefall chart in your logbook. Also, someone posted a freefall calculator on here before that you can download, that makes adding it up a little easier.

I started with tandem. It's a great way to do a first jump. End of story.
Now that you've done PFF, tandem is going to feel lame. You're going to feel like you aren't the one in control, you're going to feel like you're just along for the ride.
The rush from tandem is no different then what you felt on your first jump.
I can't think of any reason to go back.

Alrighty thank you everyone. I am going to take the tandem any ways just so I can say that I have done it. And since it counts towards my toal FF time then all the better.

PRO-TRACK~~Hey, JT, you're no newbie, you started jumping when I did. Pro-Track is a device like a Dytter that beeps in your ear at set altitudes but also records your speed, freefal time, etc. You can download the information onto your computer. I have a Dytter but want a Pro-Track, as well, so I can have two devices, in case, one doesn't go off.

Much love and blue skies,

I know what you mean JT. My first jump I was laughing when I saw my exit. It looked like I was having a heart attack/ Shitting my pants. But it was a good 24 seconds. Anyone else watch all their jumps on tape?

I don't see my self as a drunk. The good thing is that I can go to the DZ where everyone is pretty good about their limits or I can go to a house party and watch some ass make a fool of himself becasue he doesn't know how to drink his beer.
Thank You Skydivers you are all so great >insert drama here<
