ChromeBoy 0 #9 April 1, 2002 This reminds me of a story. I know this Rigger in Florida originally from Texas. Skydive San Marcos I think. He and some jumping buddies were at this competition and there was a team from Mexico there. One of the team members friends wanted to do his first tandem that day so he went through his training and up he went with the tandem master. He spoke hardly any english.Well, they seperated themselves from the airplane and had a pretty usual tandem freefall, however, they had severe line twists and the tandem master started cussing and yelling at the canopy trying to get the line twists out. Then the TM cut away and they went back into freefall. The student began screaming at the top of his lungs and crying. The TM pulled the reserve and they were under a perfect canopy but the student was yelling in spanish and crying the whole way down.They landed and the team member came over and started talking to his friend. The team member started laughing hysterically and told the JM that when he was cussing out the canopy out the student thought he was cussing him out because he did something wrong to mess up the canopy. He understood certain curse words in English. Then when he cutaway the student thought the TM released the him from the TM totally and was going to save himself. The student thought he was in freefall with no parachute and that is why he was yelling and crying the whole way down because he thought he was going to die.
