freeflir29 0 #2 April 5, 2002 If you live in one of 9 Southeastern states and have a frame relay, ATM, or CDS circuit that runs through the Bell network I can sprinkle the fairy dust of endless bandwidth..."I'm a danger to myself and everyone around me!"-Clay

freeflir29 0 #4 April 5, 2002 Quoteany chance you can open up my upstream on my DSL Clay?Actually that's the one bad drawback of DSL. The upstream is stuck at a 64K max. Depending on about a million factors you might get up to 8 Meg downstream though......"I'm a danger to myself and everyone around me!"-Clay
AggieDave 6 #5 April 5, 2002 QuoteThe upstream is stuck at a 64K max.Maybe for the relays in your area. We can get up to about 1.5mb up and down in North Texas. The one I set my folks up with is 768k up and down. Kinda nice, with the 100mb network I wired it moves faster then the campus network."Homer Simpson, smiling politely." lummy 4 #6 April 5, 2002 Yeah.. AggieDave 6 #7 April 5, 2002 You know, you could always just lease a fractional T-1...or get an OC3. Then you'd have a seriously large pipe to push stuff through. *drool* Just think about how fast you could post and how many posts you could get a hour with one of those. That'd make Clay look like a pethetic ameature..."Homer Simpson, smiling politely."
indyz 1 #8 April 5, 2002 We have an OC12 connection between UIUC and UIC for offsite backups. Between the two campuses we have mirrors of any software you could ever want. Totally killer.--Brian
freeflir29 0 #9 April 5, 2002 QuoteThat'd make Clay look like a pethetic ameature...Well...I'm not sure of the speed but I'm on a corporate LAN about 1 mile from the Broad Band switch. I can download 40 Meg movies from Headdown.net in a couple minutes......."I'm a danger to myself and everyone around me!"-Clay
AggieDave 6 #10 April 5, 2002 Yeah, sure you can download sheep pr0n fast, but can you post whore like a little bitch...oh, wait, yeah..."Homer Simpson, smiling politely."
freeflir29 0 #11 April 5, 2002 I am suprised that you guys are getting 1.1 on a residential hook up. The only people that get that around here are businesses that pay extra for HDSL I think it is. It's a lot more than the $40 a month for residential service. Of course you can always pay $100 for ISDN service. It's amazing how much 128K of dedicated service costs you......"I'm a danger to myself and everyone around me!"-Clay
AggieDave 6 #12 April 5, 2002 Oh, but it costs a crapload..."Homer Simpson, smiling politely."
AndyMan 7 #13 April 5, 2002 I get 1.5Mbps down and 128Kbps up from Earthlink, complete with a static IP.https://register.earthlink.net/cgi-bin/wsisa.dll/broadband/speed.html?drn=duYHaQFDzt5eDB3hRFQbWCh0AirqWzMd_AmICQ: 5578907MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfeYahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
scottbre 0 #14 April 5, 2002 That might ok, once they spend 3 1/2 months hooking up your service. "Fixing the world through self-destruction."
GrumpySmurf 0 #15 April 5, 2002 I just reviewed a spec for software that will include host side support for OC-192. We are talkin' 17280 DS0's (or 540 DS1's - a DS1 is the link spec overwhich T1 would operate). *MORE POWER*!!!
AndyMan 7 #16 April 5, 2002 Yeah, and you better hope you can troubleshoot problems yourself. The tech support sucks.upload speed isn't THAT much of an issue for me. I have 14 servers in serious datacenters I can put stuff on._AmICQ: 5578907MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfeYahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
