SkymonkeyONE 4 #1 April 8, 2002 Ladies and gentlemen. Feast your eyes on the new thread I just started in Safety and Training about my reserve ride today! I, Chuck Blue, a man barely alive, chopped an easily fixable spinner on a BirdMan flight this afternoon because I was too stupid to just pull my arm-wing cutaways. This was my first reserve ride since 1988; first in the last 2,520 jumps ( I think that's right; the last one was on jump 488). Read the article then feel free to give me shit if you are a BirdMan who has dealt properly with it. By the way, it was my fourth BirdMan flight of the day and I had been coaching a guy on his maiden flights all day.ChuckMy webpage HERE
ChromeBoy 0 #2 April 8, 2002 Pretty scary. Glad that you are ok. And just because you packed the reserve doesn't mean you do not have to buy yourself liquor Chuck.

SkymonkeyONE 4 #4 April 8, 2002 Actually, I promply had three shots of crown and about seven beers before I drove 22 miles home on my hot-rod Harley with my non-DOT approved helmet. Couldn't jump anymore because my "primary" rig is at Sunpath getting the new PDF legstap hardware and new legstraps (the original pre-PIA Odyssey ones slipped like a motherfucker). AggieDave 6 #5 April 8, 2002 Freaky man. A guy I knew went in doing a birdman jump last summer, so I'm definately glad that you made it out ok."Homer Simpson, smiling politely."

Uh, you're not supposed to drink and drive man. I know you just acquired your new Birdman Instruction certificate. How many jumps in what time frame does one have to have to jump a Birdman. This has been asked here before and I never really got a straight answer from an instructor.
skymama 37 #7 April 8, 2002 Glad you are ok, Chuck! Since there are alot of Bird-man flyers here in Deland, I've heard a lot of stories similar to yours. So, don't feel so bad. You're not the first one to make a wrong decision on a bird-man, and you won't be the last. But, just remember...any skydive you walk away from is a good skydive!Andi"Yes it's windy. Zennie 0 #8 April 8, 2002 QuoteHow many jumps in what time frame does one have to have to jump a Birdman. The official BirdMan "recommendation" is 500 jumps. But I think the general consensus is somewhere between 300-500 jumps."Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense." bbarnhouse 0 #9 April 8, 2002 Monkey~So gald that you are OK. Nice to see that even with all of your experience, you do not find yourself infalible, and willing to share with those with less experience. One of the surest sign of maturity is when we can laugh at ourselves eh?Thanks for sharing.Cheers!BIt only takes a little pixie dust......
SkymonkeyONE 4 #10 April 8, 2002 The "party line" answer to the minimum jump requirements is that you are supposed to have 200 jumps (supposedly in the last year). I will will take those 200 jump guys on supervised jumps. Anyone with over 500 jumps is authorized to make a solo BirdMan jump after having only viewed the training tape and signing a waiver. My webpage HERE
coconutmonkey 0 #11 April 8, 2002 Pretty much figured why you landed in my front yard (as the back was still smoldering) and that was why you and Scott took so long getting back. Knew I should've locked the lounge before going to jump....
SkymonkeyONE 4 #12 April 8, 2002 Tom,you know good and well that YOU started that fire! Also, as I recall, all the fires were definitely doused before we went back across the street to the DZ.SM-1My webpage HERE
airann 1 #13 April 8, 2002 I am super glad you are ok, NOW i need 3 shots of RootBeer and a Sunkist Chaser.....I dont care what anyone says, I freak the fuk out every time Levin puts on that damn suit.I am aware of the young gentleman from Ok last summer, a fine friend of Brittanys. She and I talked about it forever. Anyway, why you want to do birdman anyway.... just too many weirdness going on.Sounds like you were trying to get final - you almost got final with the birdshyt, then you get on said Harley with weirdness and could have been pronounced final. Dead is final. I will kill you my self........where is my backpack/purse.......... where are my keys..........where are my Gatoz........FUCH- I lost my Gatorz at DZ yesterday, I tookem off to put my helmet on to take a picture (thats the only way I can do it) of Max over by the freaking ping pong table and poof... gone.Max I better not find you wearing my Gatorz!Ann ~ www.AirAnn.comLevin in RW suit.. SkymonkeyONE 4 #15 April 8, 2002 BWAHAHAHA! Dan Preston took off with a pair of my VERY favorite shades at the end of the Ranch Pond Swoop Nationals last year. Bastard! Of course when we were all together again two weeks ago at CSS he had his car with him and said they were probably still in the trunk. Idiot me, I never looked for them. I was too stupified to remember after the jumping was over.ChuckieMy webpage HERE

airann 1 #17 April 8, 2002 I hear you about stuptified. We had a small session in my SUV. Max had one like it, we told some crazy dog stories, cause I have dog hair only on the roof of my SUV, thats kinda different. Talked about some other cool stuff. Just some friends talking, getting out of the rain - you see- in the dz parking lot. Getting ready to all leave. That sort of thing....I just forgot about my Gatorz.I have had them for 100 years.... they are in every video...... now I dont have goggles or sunglasses........ I am pretty sure its Max's fault..... although he is certainly one of the finest skydivers I have ever met. People skills wize. I did not gt to fly with him. Ann ~ www.AirAnn.comLevin in RW suit..
