AndyMan 7 #1 April 10, 2002 An empty 767 overshot the runway at LAX... tore through a fence, ended up half on a nearby roadway. Nobody hurt, but boy does it look funny.I can just hear it now... a big "Doh!" comming from the cockpit..._AmICQ: 5578907MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfeYahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

billvon 3,111 #4 April 10, 2002 >An empty 767 overshot the runway at LAX . . .Supposedly a real ATC transmission:November 8, 1986, San Jose Airport: A DC-10 had an exceedingly long landing rollout after landing with his approach speed just a little too high.Tower: "American 751 Heavy, turn right at the end if able. If not able, take the Guadalupe exit off of Highway 101 back to the airport."-bill von

diverdriver 7 #12 April 10, 2002 Ok, now, not knowing any specifics on the 767 I DO know that some aircraft have a way of transfering hydraulic fluid from one system to another. If that transfer valve stays open it is possible to be unable to build hydraulic pressure and thus no brakes. DOH!!!!!!! It happened at O'Hare with one of our BAE 146s. It WAS a mechanical problem.Chris
