ChromeBoy 0 #5 April 10, 2002 I do not pay attention to the Freefly forum anymore because the only posts are how to and the only answers are wear tight pants and sweatshirts or wear tight shirts and sweatpants. I want to learn more than that. Other than that it is like the Talkback forum!(I will probably get flamed)

Opie 0 #7 April 10, 2002 Or they could be talking about that crazy stuff all the new young skydivers are getting into. Very dangerous and just a fad! Well that's what they said about it back in the 70s I think! OpieIf your not on the edge, you can't enjoy the view!
Jimbo 0 #8 April 10, 2002 QuoteWell, we could start a "How To Make A Skyball" discussion.Sure. Take a basketball and fill it to the top with lead and tie a streamer on it for stability (preferrably bright so it looks cool too). Be sure to send up the skyball with inexperienced jumpers, preferrably just off student status. I hear they're most effective over areas with a large population. You will all bow before the great Skyball
ramon 0 #9 April 10, 2002 sorry.Actually there have been some good posts put out about freeflying by older members. many of them are lost on the server. I know I wrote a long one about a year ago. You get tired writing the samething again and I always hope someone else will fill the gap.Unfortunately the serious talent pool is a lot smaller than RWFreeflyGoat78Ratsand IMGR2are probably the best members of the group and all have atmospheric dolphin ratings. Addressing posts to them in particular might elicit a response. Don't ask Levin If you PM me I will try my best to answer your questions for you, I feel bad. ramon

Zennie 0 #11 April 10, 2002 Aw man, that's *way* more complex than what I was told. All you need is a standard 20lb bowling ball. The drilled-out finger holes take out just enough mass to make it fall a perfect 150 MPH.At least that's what I've been told. Think I'll give it a whirl this weekend. AggieDave 6 #13 April 10, 2002 Chromeboy, being that I've only had about 50 FF jumps or so, I try to help where I can, but my experience is very limited. More oft then not, I'm reading posts from Ramon and the Goat and learning a crap load. "Are they short-shorts?" T.B.

Freefliers are better than Relative Workers? At least most of you try to convince people that. All I was saying is that I have not really learned anything from the freeflyer forum. Maybe it is my lack of experience or my lack of freeflying but it seems that it is another Talkback forum. Do I want to learn, hell yes. Did I mean any disrespect, hell no. Did the person who posted this mean anything but a joke, I doubt it.Smile and have fun...it's all about the seperation from the aircraft! I in no way took offense to what you said, I was just trying to state my position, especially since I'm a bit of a PW.It does degress at times to a chit chat forum, but there is still some really good info there. I don't have fall rate problems or want to learn the mantis position....tunnel camp would be nice thoughI do RW about 4-5 times a month. The newer freefliers are doing rW in spare time to be truly 3D fliers. I was on a jump with Max Cohn this weekend (4 way with video (me)) with tight slots. Started head down...then at a key we all went n our bellys and made a round. then on a key we all went to a sit. then he pointed individually at each flier for him to go head down and fly sith the sit formation till we were all head down.if you looked at nationals video there was some RW in the FF routines. it islimited to simple 2 way and typically winds upo with someone going in a sit from belly and dragging the other to head down amintaing the dock.FF are doing this to try and be a flier at every airspeed. It does not and can not replace fast 4 way or 8 ways skills. Some of the worlds best freefliers were on the 300 way world record though ramonas paula would say'fly your slot!'
 nacmacfeegle 0 #20 April 10, 2002 Freeflying, by most people's definition is the flying of your body in any attitude. This does not just mean head down, or sit, but also back flying, knee flying, standing and of course belly flying. In order to become proficient in "freeflying" you will have to be competent in belly flying, its as simple as that. Olav was on the German national 8 way RW team for example....Bear in mind, a while back but not really that long ago, RW fliers were castigated and called dangerous freaks by the baton passers. In fact the accepted wisdom was that if enough belly fliers could get together, then they could land a formation without parachutes. We have a dynamic sport, in constant evolution, which is what I love about it. In order to become a well rounded skydiver, we must be at least proficient in most disciplines. Hell, I even enjoy crw and accuracy from time to time. And Ramon, some of the world's worst freefliers have been at 300 ways as well...Take care out there peeps.CyaD
 flyhi 24 #21 April 10, 2002 QuoteActually i've done a kiss passes with a certian dz.commer in a sit, headdown, and belly!!
