we already know you have a sense of humor, what about your safety concious level. it'd be a shame to have a good thread highjacked with low level humor. i originally posted this, so everyone including myself, could take a step back, and say, well, am i safe? do i care about safety? do i watch out for others? is my gear suited to my abilities, and/or style? this has nothing to do with locker room humor.

Not to be an ass but if you wanted this to be totally serious this should have gone in SAFETY AND TRAINING. That being said, I'm actually very safety concious. I'm always telling people to "Hold Still!" while I fix a pilot chute or flap that has worked loose. I'm always observing people's gear and trying to organize exit orders if it seems no one else is doing it. I will try to watch out for newbies if they are in the door by themselves. I have seen far too many newbies go out after only waiting 2-3 seconds because they feel hurried. I look out and make sure they have a good spot if they are first out. If I'm doing a "coaching jump" I have just taken responsibility for this newbie. I brief them on the jump and do a full gear check before we go to the plane and before exit. I make sure they check handles before we get out. I talk with them about tracking away and being altitude aware. I feel responsible for them on this jump!
I bitch at people (In the absense of anyone else doing it such as the S&TA) about low pulls or right hand patterns or stupidity of any kind I saw on the dive. I don't care how many jumps you have. If I'm bitching it was something excessively stupid. Especially if they are new. That way at least they know what they did was stupid and is not acceptible. I often hang in brakes to let other traffic get down first so my landing area is clear. I religiously check my gear before every jump. I will often "Lurk" a dive that has gotten spread out instead of trying to get in and geek the camera. It's just safer. I barrel roll at least once before I pull. I'll do it 2 or 3 times if it's some kind of cluster dive. One last thing......I was the guy last weekend that said....Uh no.....to a 5 way Head Down with some not so good fliers. Instead we split it up into a 3 way and a 2 way. Both dives went very well and the 2 way got in some excellent coaching. So....yeah.....I think I'm safer than most people out there. Believe it or not.....:)"It's all about the BOOBIES!"

Right, no one is perfect and when you do make a mistake, the difference between "call 911" and "that wasn't very smart" is how much of a safety margin you have. Big safety margin and a small mistake, and you're laughing about it over a beer at the end of the day, small safety margin and small mistake and your friends are raising a toast to your quick recovery at the end of the day.
