freaksister 0 #1 April 16, 2002 K, check this out. For 2 months I've been getting the gas bills to my old house in Amarillo, where I lived before I moved down here to Dallas. Suddenly, there appeared a $3000 PLUS credit on the bill, and I don't know where it came from. The house was for sale, and it sold about three weeks ago. I called the gas co. to have the service taken out of my name, and they said nothing. I got my final bill a couple of days ago, which still says I owe nothing but have a like $3300 credit. No check in the mail yet. So I am over here wondering what to do. I am a pretty honest person (I say "pretty" because I am human and sometimes I falter, DUH) so I don't want to try and get the money then get in trouble. But I thought maybe it had something to do with selling the house or something?!?! Weird, 'eh. Most likely a mistake on their part. I am going to call them and see what's up...in the mean time, we can wonder. SisCan you Trip like I do?
ChromeBoy 0 #2 April 16, 2002 Don't get yourself in trouble Sis 'cause they will eventually notice and try to make you pay it if you take it. Such is life.
freaksister 0 #3 April 16, 2002 Ya, the more I think about it, the more I realize that I need to just call them and point out their mistake, 'cause that is what it has to be. All along, I have known inside that I should just call 'em and be honest, but part of me was hoping...hehe!here is a true story for you: I used to live in Kissimmee, Florida (by Disney World). I used a bank called Amsouth there, and I had a savings account with about $3000 in it. I checked the balance late one night at the ATM, and it said I had the normal amount, plus $20,000!!!!! WTF?!?!?! I couldn't believe it so I kept chekcing it everyday. I didn't dare touch it, because its totally obvious that was an accounting error. I was just bemused, wondering how long it would take them to notice it! Took 30 days. The next billing cycle, it was gone, and I went to the branch manager and told him I personally thought it was kind of funny, although I am sure THEY didn't and they person who was missing the money probably didn't either. They just kind of laughed and life went on. LOL These things happen more often than we think they do, I'll bet. I mean, twice in seven years for me? SisCan you Trip like I do? Keith 0 #6 April 16, 2002 One time I went to close a savings account knowing my balance was about 10 bucks or so. The telller told me there was almost 200 bucks in the account. I told her that was impossible because I hardly ever used the account and I knew there should only be about 10 bucks in there. She kept insisting I must have made a mistake because they didn't, so I finally said fine give me the 200 bucks. Had I been a skydiver back then I would have made a "b" line for the DZ.
