Who else should be working right now?

Quotes from the movie Office Space....
Bob #1: We're trying to get a feel for what people do around here.. so, could you just walk us through a typical day for you?
Peter: Well, sure Bob. I generally come in at least 15 minutes late. I use the side door; that way Lumbergh can't see me, and after that I just sorta space out for about an hour--
Bob #2: Ah wait--space out?
Peter: Yeah. I just stare at my desk. But it looks like I'm working. I do that for, uh.. probably another hour after lunch too. I'd say, in a given week, I probably only do about 15 minutes of real, actual.. work.
Human beings were not meant to sit in little cubicles staring at computer screens all day! -Office Space

Well I seem to vary between 80 hour work weeks and weeks that I go to work and just fool around all day. Lately it's been the latter. A project that I've been working on for over a year just got cancelled, so I'm taking a two-week 'work vacation' (i.e. I'm showing up, but I don't plan on actually doing anything.) Next week I think I'll start looking for my next project.

Damn, that's almost my exact same schedule.
I did get the Radio Disney Studio back up just in time for their broadcast today. So, today, I kinda earned my keep, but some days . . . whoo . . . the trouble with doin' nuthin' is, how do you know when you're done?

I design stuff. So far I've designed:
-the MacAdios II board
-a test set for the F-14E
-a tester for the EF-111A
-the power supply for the OmniTracs truck tracking system
-a power supply for the 767 health monitoring system
-a power supply for one of the airphone products
-a flourescent lamp ballast for a visual-stealth helicopter
-a ring voltage generator for a PBX system
-the Qualcomm common test fixture (tester for all infrastructure boards)
-the Globalstar Ethyl phone (GSP-1600) available at Verizon!
-the MDSS medium data rate airborne satellite communication system
Also designed a few chips that got built for me - got a patent on one of those.

I should be at work three days a week but this flu has been keeping me in the dorm. That and I just got an email saying that all of the tech support workers are being laid off at the end of the semester, so I just quit. Might as well use the last two weeks of the semester to study!

That explains a lot. Your posts are usually so technical and thought out. Your job seems to fit with that.
By the way, that sounds really fun. Maybe I'll get to do something similar with my comp. sci. degree someday.

I am working, I should be jumping. Argh! I've been trying to get out to the DZ for three hours now, but just haven't been able to leave my desk.
Oh the joys of the software engineer.

The dark side huh. Yeah, that's what we call you up here too! (Just kidding) Yes, I'm considering it, you actually know how to pay your professionals there, plus, as you all know, one American dollar is worth like, a boatload Canadian. But I love the island, and don't know if I really want to leave. It's the most beautiful place in the world, in my opinion. And I've been all over Europe and in some of the states. We'll see. Oregon is pretty nice (and yes I'm sure other parts of the country are wonderful too, but I'm a west coast girl)
