Jessica 0 #1 April 18, 2002 I hear skydivers talk about their "colors" a lot. I was puzzled, because I've never owned new gear, and nothing matches. My "colors" are pink, black, turquoise, maroon, grey, purple, and some others that I'm embarassed to mention.Anyhow, I'm ordering new gear for the, er, well, I'm ordering a FF suit, and much to my bafflement, I have to pick the colors. It's making my head hurt.So...I need advice. what are YOUR colors? How did you pick them?My rig is mostly black, some purple, then turquoise and pink accents. My canopy is purple, pink and turquoise. The rig colors are OK; I don't care for the canopy color scheme.I'm kind of thinking purple and pink tie-dye. Thoughts? Gag reflex? I need some help. The door is openWe are way the fuck up hereMight as well get out.~ FallingMarc

AndyMan 7 #3 April 18, 2002 I came by my colors honestly. It started when I was buying my frist gear - my alti III. I was browsing square one's website, saw the purple alti, and thought hey, why not. Purple looks cool with anything. Then I went and bought my first container, a Javenlin from Aerohio. Conveniently, it had purple, but also black and turquoise. Then I needed a main canopy, and the perfect triathlon came around. I bought it sight unseen, without even seeing the colors. Wanna guess? Purple, turquoise, and black, of course.I bought three different peices of gear, bought all three independently and on their own merits. And they matched. Freaky. So my colors are purple, turquoise, and black. My RW jumpsuit has more black then anything else, my freefly suit has more purple then anything else. When I bought my new stiletto a few monthes ago, yup - purple turquoise and black. Then Pammi made me a necklace? Well, you can guess the colors..._AmICQ: 5578907MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfeYahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
nacmacfeegle 0 #4 April 18, 2002 Jump suit coulours are quite importantIf you are gonna be hanging around in your JS all day, and you live somewhere nice and warm, think about light colours, to keep you cool. How about a white suit, with purple on white TD patches.....There simply isn't enough purple in skydiving, and there's far too much pink.....Check out JS maker websites such as dakine, firefly, and michigan for some inspiration....You can normally download some printable patterns and try colouring them in, its fun.....CyaD

freeflir29 0 #9 April 18, 2002 Hmmm...it all started when I bought an off the shelf Invertigo X from Skykat. Then I just happened to buy a Dolphin container which is of course black. I also got a military double zipper jumpsuit free that was of course black. I always liked purple and black anyway so then I ordered a black Michigan Free fly suit with purple flames up the arms and legs. If Mike will ever put down the bong and stop watching Star Trek re runs I might actually get my suit!!!! My order was placed 51 days ago and counting....."It's all about the BOOBIES!" skycat 0 #12 April 18, 2002 Here is how my colors came about. I originally bought a used Reflex that was electric blue, purple, with lemon pin stripes. Used RW suit black with pink and purple grippers, and a pink protec. So when I bought my custom Hawk RW suit @ 100 jumps I wanted something purple blue and yellow to match my rig...well the purple wasn't even close so I ended up getting a jumpsuit that was royal blue booties, butt and outside nylon with yellow spandex on the sides forarms and back of the grippers, the front of the grippers is tydied electric blue/royal blue. www.hawksuits.comMy original FF suit is purple and black, but my fall rate is to slow in it.Then I bought my custom crossfire and since I had the royal blue and yellow thing going, I got one that was yellow with royal blue ribs.Anyway since the canopy was to small for the container I ordered my mirage that was royal blue, blackberry with lemon trim tape and binding, I ment to order yellow, but the picture of yellow looked to gold...oops should have got the yellow. I'm the one on the bottom right in the attached picture.I just made myself some sweet freefly pants with the help of a certain cutie-pie rigger who did the sewing that matches my mirage perfectly. I'll get pics up of them as soon as I remember to bring the camera to the DZ again.

Emma 0 #15 April 18, 2002 It's difficult I reckon. I did the same thing, got a rig and kind of tried to match the colours of my jumpsuit to it. White, pink and (I think they call it?) teale. Some skygod took the piss out of it and pointed out that it is very 80s. But I like the 80s....I mean, batwings are back, aren't they? Have you seen those Birdman suits? Now that is one helluva batwing....Anyways, I don't think you can ever please everyone. For some reason, I think RW suits look better with more subdued colours and freefly suits can go a bit more WACKY! (Hey, you don't have to be MAD to work here, but it helps! Right?)One of my friends has a lovely ff suit with special holgraphic silver material in a funky stripe down the outside of each leg. She got it specially and sent it off to the seamstress (or whatever..tailor? manufacturer?).The best thing about RW suits is that the booties look like cool flares and the grips make men's arms look bigger. The only reason I don't freefly is because those baggy suits make you look fat. And you can't have THAT in yer vids, can ya?
skymama 37 #16 April 18, 2002 My colors all revolve around the first thing that I bought, which was a navy blue helmet. Then, I started thinking of all the colors that go with navy blue...red, yellow, white, etc., but one look around the dz told me that all the guys picked those colors. So, that's where MAGENTA came in! Then, when I saw that Ralph Lauren used navy blue and magenta together in his clothing line last year, I thought I'd be oh so cute! So, both my jumpsuits are white, navy blue and magenta, and I even found tennis shoes at Payless that have those same colors!AndreaI'm high as a kiteI just mightStop and check you out. dove 0 #18 April 18, 2002 Try as I might I never could find used gear in my size... so I had to buy new. So I just went with my favorite color - Royal Blue. Rig: Black and Royal blue; Goggles: Royal Blue: RW suit: Royal Blue, Black and some Yellow hightlights; FF suit: Royal Blue and Silver. What do you think you look good in? Who cares if it matches?! All my stuff used to match and then I got a new canopy. It is purple and white. Now ask me if I care? Hehehe! You are spending a lot of money for something you'll have for awhile, get your fav! Skyrose7 0 #20 April 18, 2002 I have the same colors as you. Although, I had to buy an rw suit, I went with black and purple. I like black, but I never thought about the heat aspect of it. I hope that doesn't suck this summer. I like the tye-dye idea. The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP.
TEB6363 0 #21 April 18, 2002 Go ahead and pick something with colors you like and go together pretty well. In the next couple of years you will need a new suite and maybe even different gear. That will give you a chance to change anything you don't likeHell, this year I went from black/gray/red to all red/black and my RW suite was royal blue/black/red. Now I will have to get royal blue on my next rig (years from now).:::OK, Canopy is Open, No Traffic Around, .. Why are these "Extra" Lines Draping Down??, Damn! JDBoston 0 #24 April 18, 2002 Just got my rig - woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - which is red & gold w/some red & gold tie-dye parts too (mudflaps, design on the back, cutaway pad). My main is 3 shades of blue but I got it used. I don't know that it really matches the rig. Whatever. Don't have a suit yet, but when I get one it'll likely be some kind of neutral color that's doesn't get hot or dirty too easily and doesn't clash with my other shit. Anyway, them's my colors.Joe
PhreeZone 20 #25 April 18, 2002 I personally thought you looked good in the white and blue with some tye-dye jump suit...but we talked about this and go with the purple as the main color and the pink as an accent... And yeah... stay away from the white for now... at least till you get a few more Cobalt jumps in..."Hey.. Its my camera, and my remote...
