Ten years...

Recommended Posts

April 22, 1992 - the Otter crashed at Perris, taking 16 people from us. Today, ten years later, I'm thinking about the people we lost, the survivors who mostly came back to the sport and the dz after they recovered, and those who were at the DZ and helped get their friends out of the wreckage.
A big hug to anyone who was there that day.
pull & flare,

Nice article. Many changes in attitude came from this and another crash later that year. Let us not forget the lessons learned as it would disrespect the memories of our past brothers and sisters.
I got interviewed for the article out of the blue because of my website. Nothing was used from the interview other than my website was listed at the bottom. The word is getting out.

Good luck today, Lisa.
I was at Hinckley last september which was the ten year aniversary to the beech crash that killed 12 - everyone on board.
It was a strange night, almost magical. All the old timers came out, many people came out that gave up the sport afterwards. Again we had three generations around the fire, gallons of tequila, everyone telling stories of good times and good friends in days long past.
Lest we never forget...

Hey Andy, don't know what accident you are talking about but according to the NTSB the Beech went down in Sept. of 92. Not 91 as would be 10 year anniversary last september. It crashed AFTER the otter went down at Perris. Just looking at what the NTSB website says.

That's actually really cool that your website is getting noticed. You're becoming a celebrity!!:)"Do whatever you like, just untie me when you're done"

The thing that amazed me about those two crashes was that a few weeks after the Hinckley crash (Labor Day 1992) I was manning the phone at Hinckley, when a lady phoned from Perris to say that they had some extra money and wanted to give some to Hinckley survivors. I steered her towards the Hinckley widows and orphans fund.
Perris' generosity still brings tears to my eyes.
Is that brotherhood or what?

Cheryl, my website has a lot to do with death. I don't want that king of celebrity. I want awareness so we don't repeat the mistakes of the past. I want a website so pilots know what they SHOULD do to keep safe. And to know what perils lay out there. It is not.....so I can be more popular.
I know what you mean. I just want people to understand that the site is what is important. Not me.

Was thinking of the memorial gathering all day from work today.
The companionship and support from those encircled by that day.
Sometimes I just go out to that park and sit and contemplate life. It really brings a perspective into focus of what's important in this life. To give...to live life to it's utmost...to love without reserve.
To Dream
To Risk
To Reflect
Fly On, oh friends, Fly On!
