AggieDave 6 #1 April 23, 2002 I need some new music, something thats good, but obscure so I haven't heard it before. I'm getting bored with my music collection and need to pirate some new tunes. Any genre.A human cannonball, I rise above it allUp higher then a trapeze, I can fly
SkymonkeyONE 4 #2 April 23, 2002 Not "new", but still VERY angry: Gwar, "Scumdogs of The Universe". That is one bad-ass album. I recommend "maggots" and "sick of you". ChuckMy webpage HERE
indyz 1 #3 April 23, 2002 The Word, eponymous. Totally great instrumental gospel, with a killer lap steel player. The Aquabats. Look for either The Return of the Aquabats, their first and arguably best album, or The Fury of The Aquabats, which is pretty good also.--Brian
AggieDave 6 #4 April 23, 2002 Gwar, downloaded a handful of songs, not bad...Aquabats, not bad either...I've heard The Word before, good stuff, dig that steele guitar.Randomly grabbed some In Flames, that's not bad either.A human cannonball, I rise above it allUp higher then a trapeze, I can fly
SkymonkeyONE 4 #5 April 23, 2002 You want obscure? Try "Sit on my face, Stevie Nicks" by The Rotters. Pure ass late 70's punk. Another fun, obscure band is Jonathan Richmond and The Modern Lovers". I recommend "Ice Cream Man". ChuckMy webpage HERE
AndyMan 7 #6 April 23, 2002 What kind of music you like? I've been getting into a Jazz house fusion thing lately.... but I doubt that's what you're looking for._AmICQ: 5578907MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfeYahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
GrumpySmurf 0 #7 April 23, 2002 If you like electronica:Delerium - newer stuff (albums - Karma and Poem) is more mainstream, older stuff is more gothic (Euphoric*, Spheres 1 and 2, Morphology, Seriophenican (sp?)) - crossover album between the two is 'Semantic Spaces'. If you like them try finding stuff by Conjure One and Balligomingo (side projects by the same producers). If you like celtic-esque (drinking) music:Great Big Sea (shameless plug for a band back home * Eurphoric - This one has one of the weirdest tracks I have ever heard - the 'beat' (if you can consider it that) is a mechanical breathing sound - like a respirator. The only thing I've found stranger is a track by Skinny Puppy on the Blair Witch soundtrack where an inhuman ghost like 'voice' sounds like it is pleading, "Help me......die.", in the background. AggieDave 6 #8 April 23, 2002 Yeah, fusion Jazz is some good shit, I used to listen to UNT's 1 O'clock play a lot of fusion.Basically the only music I've found that I don't really like is Tejano.(You know what the difference between a polka band and a tejano band is? The polka instruments weren't stolen... sorry, I know that's a bad joke, but hey, its a slow day)A human cannonball, I rise above it allUp higher then a trapeze, I can fly
cyberskydive 0 #9 April 23, 2002 cmon- go get some dead milkmen, NOFX, and some music from this new band called the X-ecutioners - pretty cool from what I've heard.then download the entire jerkey boys collection!.....there is no spoon--------------------My website
AggieDave 6 #10 April 23, 2002 Delerium, Conjure One, Great Big Sea...downloading about a 8 songs from each artist as we speak.Couldn't find any Balligomingo, I'll poke around if I like the other stuff, I'm sure I can find some MP3s of them somewhere if I tried harder. AggieDave 6 #11 April 23, 2002 I've got stuff from all those except X-ecutioners, I'll go grab some of that real quick.See, that's why I said obscure, otherwise I've probably heard it or have it (I'm currently running at a bit over 28Gb of MP3s) A human cannonball, I rise above it allUp higher then a trapeze, I can fly
GrumpySmurf 0 #12 April 23, 2002 Half the upcoming new album from Balligomingo *WAS* online and available from the artist(s) themselves - but I think may have been pulled since (in light of the album about to be released in a month or so). Well enjoy. Here's link from delerium.com (a fan site blessed by the producers, Fulber and Leeb) to the video for Aria (off of the latest album, 'Poem'):http://www.delerium.com/media/videos/Delerium-Aria.mpg (it's about 41 MB, if you got the bandwidth, gives you an idea of what they are like) - they use various artists for vocals on different songs such as Sarah McLaughin, Kristy Thirsk, and Mathew Sweet. freefallin14 0 #13 April 23, 2002 if anyone is at all interested in electronic/techno music get some new stuff from the Chemical Brothers. Their new album "come with us" is awesome. saw them live saturday night and my ears are still ringing......sweet!!! try to download the video for the song "star guitar". it is an amazing video with some of the coolest use of computer graphics and equalizer effects I have ever seen, not to mention a great song.Bret
PhreeZone 20 #14 April 23, 2002 I'm currently on a Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies thing... and you can never go wrong with Sonique or half a dozen other trace artists. Then there is NOFX, MXPX, Pennywise, and my personal fav for obscure... Red Wanting Blue (Indie band here in Columbus) A couple of my old friends had a country thing going a few years ago that was recorded and released but I can almost gaurentee that you've never heard of them... Tobasco Donkeys... interesting project... If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will....

But a 2 hour set for them is just warming up. The Chems absolutely rocked. Last time I saw them Fatboy opened up for them and they were great then too.
