LawnDart21 0 #1 April 25, 2002 Okay, so it's super slow today at work, and a whuffo co worker is claiming that Dan Aykroyd hosted a show in January called "Out There" where one of the stories was about a skydiver who had a total mal, main and reserve and lived. Apparently this paranormal event was that the jumper was able to decellerate his or her body to a stop, just prior to impact. This isn't what my co-workers are talking about, though. This was also way before I got into the sport, so maybe I'm just perpetuating the myth.Dan Akroyd used to host a show called "psy-factor" which was suposed to be investigative reporting into "paranormal" reports, but it was just lame, and many of the reports were obviously faked.I think that people simply don't want to believe we're nuts, and want to think that we're not REALLY risking death every time we jump... One episode last week they showed a paraglider perform a stunt that wound up wrapping him up in his chute. The story was that he fell like this from about 5k . . he lived, however, his lower body is paralyzed. The show ended with him playing wheelchair basketball. He went through a grove of trees, his canopies snagged on a branch and he lived with just a few broken bones. His friends brought him the branch that saved his butt to him in the hospital.
