I was sitting in front of the 'puter about 6 pm last night, typing away, creating yet another deeply insightful reply to a post, when all of a sudden - *poof!* - my monitor went black! "Hmmm" thought I, "wtf?"
Glanced down at the cpu to see if the little lights were still on. They were. "Hmmm" thought I, "this is probably not good."
Looked back at the monitor and noticed that the little green light was no longer green. Actually, it was black. "Hmmmm" thought I, "this is really not good."
Pushed on the power button a few times to no avail. "Hmmm" thought I, "this just may really suck."
Climbed under the desk and unplugged it, then plugged it into another outlet. Got out from under the desk, sat back down and puhed the power button a few times. Nothin'. "Hmmm" thought I, "this really sucks."
Went to the fridge and grabbed a beer. Drank it quickly. Felt better.
So. Anybody know where I can find a really cheap monitor? Today? ;)
pull & flare,
lisa

Usually when Friday comes around I shut the computer off and head to the DZ. Hoping the whole time that I never have to see it again. But then Monday comes around and I see it again:(.....
Put it off till Monday..........Go to Fry's, or Sears, or Wall-mart, or somthing similair.

Yeah, I bet there's got 3 or 4 of them laying around my parents house. Too bad you're in CA, I'd give you one. The shipping would cost more than a monitor. :S

Work? That's where I get all mine.... (seriously)
Sorry Lis... I can ship you one , but it would cost more to ship than it would be to buy a new one.
New ones can be had for 50-70 nowadays... If you have a Fry's nearby, they're always good. CompUSA is decent if you can deal with the rebate hell.
If you want REALLY cheap, Garage sales, and flea markets. Orange County Flea market in Costa Mesa (that's what, about 45 minutes from you?)was a good place for electronics and there's another at the College (OCC?)
Stay away from BestBuy, Circuit city, Good Guys
Conjunction Junction, what's your function?

I have three oay checks in my wallet and I need to pay bills but I closed my checking account in Naples because I am moving tomorrow so I go to the bank and they have no power so they can't cash my checks or give me money orders. I sat in traffic for 45 minutes because the traffic lights didn't work. My blinker went out. So now I have to go get my blinker fixed so it works while I drive to Boston tomorrow am and I still have to finish packing and send a detailed report to my company in Kansas. I feel like saying fuck it and go buy some beer. It is Friday after all.

It could just be the soft power switch. If you have one of those. They are pretty sensitive to dirt. I'm sure you could get it replaced pretty cheaply. I think it would be worth having it checked anyway. If it's any other part it'll be cheaper and easier to just buy a whole new monitor.

So THAT'S why you weren't online last night.
Hmmm... I'd give you one of my spares, but it'd cost me a fortune to ship it. Damn. Not like I can really bring one to Eloy, too.

Here's some that come in at about $80 - a good price if you ask me. There's even one for $60, but that's with a rebate. Trouble here is you'd have to wait for it to ship.
Flea markets are a good idea. Monitors are a dime a dozen and the technology really hasn't changed much.

We go wine and beer at 4 PM at the office today. I need that like I need to be hit in the head with a tack hammer, after consuming the following last night: about 1.5 bottles of wine and some wussy frozen drink that nevertheless had a lot of vodka in it. Throw in 3 hours of sleep, went straight to work from some girl's place, and I have felt awesome all day (is my sarcasm showing?). I would like nothing better than to be asleep right now.
And Lisa, good luck finding a monitor.
Joe
