Harry Oconnor

Recommended Posts

I just read in Skydiving Magazine about Harry Oconnor's death. He must have been a great guy and skydiver. It's sure an awful loss to our skydiving community and to his family. Did anybody on here know him? (I think Lisa had a post earlier about an unnamed stuntman killed hitting a bridge, but I didn't realize who it was until now). Steve

There will be multiple jumps in honor of Harry this weekend, along with memorial activities on the ground. BJ Worth and Kate Cooper will be organizing starting about noon on Saturday and possibly on Sunday too.
pull & flare,

Funny how small the skydiving world is. One of my homies from Deland, Carl Dougherty, told me he was going to Perris for memorial jumps, but I couldn't remember the guy's name. I guess this is who it is for.:(
If you meet Carl, tell him to come back soon because I want another spin on the jetski!

I was on Ron Lee's demo team with Harry for about five years. We'd jump into baseball games, golf courses at night, even the London Bridge one year. He was a good guy.
BJ and Ron practiced a "missing man" formation yesterday at Otay - I think they're doing a demo into Santa Barbara on Saturday.

Bill,
Did you ever know Hod (Gary) Sanders? He was on the Navy Parachute team with Harry. He was also on some world championship teams with B.J. (Mirror Image and others). He now owns a D.Z. here in Montana. Steve
