I went up... up... up

And I got out!
Yahoo! Wow did I miss that feeling. I can't believe the whole world doesn't want to skydive! They don't know what they're missing.
Had a great IAD, better than any last year. Then I did another, and it was even better! Only bad thing, the dropzone is pretty small, only two PFF instructors, and one of them sprained her ankle today real bad and is out for the near future. So, no PFF available, looks like I'm doing standard progression. Just me and the strut.
But wow! It seems surreal that I was there, and did it! Thanks all for the encouragement. Hope the weather is good tomorrow. No doubts on where I'll be. ;)

Hey! Congratulations from a fellow BCer. I remeber my second IAD as being the best, and way better then the first as I was much more aware. Good luck with the standard progression, too bad PFF isn't an option but the good news is it can be cheaper, or at least a spread out expense. Come out and see us sometime in Victoria after you get licensed.

Yeah, Michele, the sky is grand!
Utterly exhausted today. Two more jumps. IAD still, oh well. I keep looking down just enough to lose a good arch.
But what a way to get exhausted!
The greatest thing is that I feel so much more aware of everything during each jump, right from the first gust of wind when the door opens, than I was last year.
The door opens and there's the sudden pulse increase, the dry mouth. Everything feels more vibrant when that moment comes, the air is sweeter, even the textures seem more real under my hands and feet. When I let go of that strut it's like every criticism and obligation and all the superficial daily clutter blows away like memory dust. I'm aware of each moment as I go through the motions and the canopy opens and I get to dance in the wind. Expectations don't matter, opinions don't matter, politics don't matter, I just get to be me for awhile, utterly me. I can't imagine anything else coming close to that freedom.

That's it, exactly. There is - there can be - NOTHING - but the jump. There is no room for anything else - your mind is absorbed in the task, and the newness - the experience, the dance, the joy, the freedom, the exhilaration, the sweetness of being alive - all floods in, invades, challenges and supercedes the rest of the daily morass, the barrage of "regular" life - and for those moments, for that brief, sweet and oh-so-short time, you are exactly, perfectly you...
Ain't it grand! :)Ciels and Pinks-
