I'll be able to make a phone call from home while posting on dz.com (watch out anyone who's phone number I have...)! pull & flare, lisaIf I can't have everything, well, then just give me a taste... skydiverbrian 0 #2 May 15, 2002 Trouble with high speed connections is that they're like air conditioning. You don't know you need it till you have it, and once you have it, you'll never go without.
AndyMan 7 #3 May 15, 2002 I just put out the word.... the vids are moving over to my server shortly. I'd challenge you to put a dent in this server...Welcome to the "always on" world, Lisa. jtval 0 #9 May 15, 2002 WAIT JUST A FREAKING MINUTE.....are you saying that I got DSL before you Lisa...In KOREA! what is THAT all about?do you still have to leave your house to go use the "outhouse?"I wonder if anyone else knows what DSL stands for, that would change the whole content of her post.getting high is fun, but coming down is the best partJT
jfields 0 #10 May 15, 2002 FallRate,I live right outside Washington, DC, and I can't get DSL. Still too far from the stupid substation. I've been getting ads and offers in the mail for several years, and they always fall apart when I say okay. "Well, we thought you were in our service range, but you're actually not." Bastards don't know asses from elbows. When I can get your service, mail me, but until then, leave me the hell alone. High-speed teasing bastards! At least I have a T-1 at work so I get my net fix during the day. I rarely ever surf at home any more. Justin

scottbre 0 #12 May 15, 2002 QuoteIn another week or so I'll be joining the 21st century and finally have high speed internet access.More like, in a week or so the DSL company will call you up and say that they are currently out of stock of modems, or they haven't installed a DSLAM at the nearest phone company exchange, or you need to have an integrity check done on your wiring, etc. Especially if you are getting the DSL through a big company like Earthlink or SBCAmeritech. So then 3 months from now when your DSL actually starts working, the "filters" that they gave you to keep the DSL signal from disrupting your phone line won't seem to work right and you will still hear static half the time that you are on the phone, and the other half of the time, the DSL will disconnect when you answer the phone.Man oh man DSL rocks! You're going to love it! Of course seems like there are better and cheaper ways to pump up the stress and annoyance levels in your life, but to each their own. Turn off the world before you come to bed.

Dumpster 0 #14 May 15, 2002 You'll love DSL- When it's working it's GREAT - But it can have problems- I had it until we moved into our new house and it's not available in this area - we're close enough to the station but the wiring in our OLD (est. 1926) subdivision won't support it- Enjoy!! -D

AndyMan 7 #16 May 15, 2002 QuoteWAIT JUST A FREAKING MINUTE.....are you saying that I got DSL before you Lisa...In KOREA! what is THAT all about? This really isn't very surprising. The US has the slowest adoption rate of high speed internet of any industrialised country. For example, in Canada more then 50% of internet users are high speed, either DSL or cable. And this was even before the gov't started initiatives to encourage adoption. In the US, it's currently about %.High speed internet is also more expensive in the US then anywhere else in the industrialised world. Think there's a connection?_AmICQ: 5578907MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com AIM: andrewdmetcalfeYahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
