Could be good for exit shots?

I've never seen 8X zoom in such an innexpensive digital camera, so on that basis alone it's pretty good. I don't think it'd be a good enough zoom for hot&pop exits, or crw though.... more realistically it's good for grabbing those surrepticious shots of your friends walking back from the landing area, I would think...
They also don't say if it uses a digital or optical zoom. The difference is weather they use electronics or lenses for the zoom. Of course, optical is better but digital is cheaper.

Ah, good to know...always wondered what the difference was between digital and optical zoom...still don't quite 'get it'. I wonder how much zoom you'd have to have on a digital camera to get a decent shot of a hop n' pop, or if they even make digital that 'zoomy' yet?

I don't think that camera has "zoom." It looks like it has 8X optical magnification, just like a regular pair of binoculars. I mean, I assume there's no way to zoom out with it. Optical zoom is what a "real" zoom camera has. It moves the lenses to make a larger image. Digital zoom is like making a picture bigger on the computer. You don't get any more detail, but rather just make the detail you have bigger. It's 100% useless if you have any photo editing program to crop and enlarge a picture.
