4 day Chicago trip

Recommended Posts

Hey all of you Chicago dwellers. Laura and I will be there from May 30 - June 2. It is her birthday on the 30th and we are going to spend 3 nights up there.
We will be at Chicagoland Skydiving on Friday and Saturday. Should be a really good time. I have heard a lot of good about them and really hope to finally meet some of you!! :)Also, I have another question for the natives/transplants: what are some of the "must do's" of Chicago? We are going to head into Chicago on Thursday and Sunday and I really don't know a lot about the city.
If you could point me in the right direction, please help. Comments and suggestions are welcome! :)Thanks, y'all ! ! !

On my little visit I took to Chicago, I enjoyed the Navy Pier (and it was actually a nice walk going by all the shops downtown to get there), the Natual History Museum, and of course you have to go to the top of the Sear's Tower. I went at night, and it was a cool view.

Thanks for the info, folks! :)I will certainly take anymore suggestions or comments about this. Is it very easy/hard to find parking in Chicago? I really hate driving in big cities like that and will just want to park and walk.
Also, if you are going to be at the dropzone on Friday or Saturday, please let me know so I can look for you! (I will certainly be wearing my dropzone.com shirt. :)Blues!!

I'll be at Chicagoland that weekend... Hopefully it will be my company's "Through your boss out of the airplane day".
As for what do to in Chicago, well, you start by stopping by my downtown condo. Then you take Andy out for a beer. Or Andy takes you out for a beer...
Otherwise, Navy Pier is fun. If there's a cubs game on, go to it. Navy pier is fun, but it's better later in the summer. The art galleries and museams are fun. Lunch at the top of the Hanckock tower is both affordable and fun. You don't have to pay the fee for the observation deck, either...
What else? The Jazz and Blues scene is great. I can take you to some of the better clubs if you want... If you're on your own, check out "The Back Room", and "The Underground Wunderbar" if you like Jazz, or Buddy Guy's Legends on Wabash if you like Blues...
The Blueman Group IS a great show. If you go, ask for tickets in the first seven rows.... ;) Parking downtown isn't bad - but it isn't terribly cheap either. Most lots max out at atbou $18/day. Once you ditch the car you could go everywhere on foot. I never drive downtown.

Oh, yeah, I forgot about them, and I totally agree. I saw them in Vegas, and it's probably the best show I've ever seen. You laugh your ass off, and when it's done, you realize that they never even said a single word!

Thank you guys so much for the info! I think I am going to try and score some Blue People tickets. Also, we are going to check out the Navy place.
I was searching around the web for some places of interest, but I think you all touched on them all. Sounds like a really great time!
AndyMan...I think that would be cool to stop by your place. We will be there on Thursday morn (most of the day) and then again on Sunday. Let me know PM or here when you'll be home and all that jazz. Hopefully, you can make it out to the DZ also.
SkyMedic...that would be totally sweet if you guys made it out to the dropzone. I would really like to meet y'all. See you then! :)Blue ones and thanks again to the others too!

I should be at Hinckley those days too....
Oh, and something i definitely recommend in Chicago is the Second City comedy troupe. A lot of SNL people (especially back in the day when it was funny) got their start there.

Actually, most of the SNL people came out of Second City in Toronto, not Chicago. HTH! ;)

Mountain Man, I just found out about a balloon port outside of Chicago. I got the guy looking into skydivers paying for a normal ticket but not landing in it. He told me I was the first person to ever ask him:D Click here for their website.

So did they ever get that P-38 wanna-be flying jumpers afterwards ..Avara, Arava - whatever it's called?

They've even stopped giving us dates. It'll happen at some time, I'm sure.

Brandon, you have to go to Shedd Aquarium. I went there last year and it was fantastic. Of course you would prolly wanna be interested in fish and sea life....Also went to Nave Pier last year and had the best $5 pretzel ever!!;)Food at Nave Pier is good, but waaay overpriced, don't go hungry.

As long as they still fly that frankenotter, i dont care bout having the arava....

The frankenotter may be fast, but they need to get those fuckin benches outta there. An otter is NOT made for benches, they're so uncomfortable. I so much like sitting on the floor.....ok, i'm done bitching now. :)"And to those who have seen it, it's a true work of art"
