Dz.com T-shirt pose in my 1st 4-way!! (pics)

Recommended Posts

Hey ya'll! I thought you dz.commers might like these pics since they are all from my first 4-way (23rd jump) while wearing shorts and the dropzone.com t-shirt! :)Hey HH, maybe I can get my own sponsorship or something what u think? jk hehe
I want to give mad props to my bro Phil, the guy jumping the ratty Vector, my bro PJ jumping a slightly newer Vector 3, and finally the crazy freeflyin' Tim meister who ran camera and humored us with his belly flyin' action. (although he did do a standup for like a second at one point, lol)
This was at gold coast skydivers in moss point, ms.
Anyways, hope u guys enjoy these.

last one, this one really cracked me up because i didn't see Tim do this on video nor while jumping. only when i took the video and made each frame into a jpg did I notice.
Tim does this like 4 times in the jump! Hilarious! :D
(btw, i'm talking about that "peace sign" thing that everyone does and I see on all the videos. what do ya'll call that if anything?) lol Jumpers are such great ppl!
oh yeah, on this pic it was about 5k and i was waving off telling ppl to SPLIT! cuz i was gonna track to 4 and pull. hehe

thx, i hope to start freeflying soon but ppl say i need like 100 belly jumps or so to be safe. plus i need to modify my racer with wolverine teeth and some new/more velcro too.
anyways, i put my vid (Jake's First 4-Way RW (divx).avi) on pilot dave / andy man? 's site in the uploads section for anyone who enjoys watching skydiving videos. no music to it though, if anyone knows a good editor to do that please let me know. i might submit another one soon too of someone freeflying that's pretty cool.
man, i need to get a camera bad! it's fun reliving the experience. especially when stuck at work :)

Pleased to see you having a laugh dude, however..
"i need to get a camera bad!"
I'd hold off on that for a while yet , not wanting to be a nazi, but let your pals film you till you get a little more experience/ability. Besides, If your pals are filming you, what do YOU need a cam for :)Congrats again on the 4 way, jumping with your friends rocks eh? Stick with the belly flying, it will stand you in good stead when you decide to join us on the dark side.....I'll see you there, and don't be late.:)Cya

yeah, ur totally right. plus, i can't afford a camera yet anyways. gonna be paying off that rig for the summer at least anyways and i still need a helmet and jumpsuit. (was borrowing full face to test it (kinda nice with noize cut out but cant decide what i like best yet))
probably gonna just keep jumping in t-shirt and shorts though if you think that's ok. I heard it helps you get better somehow.
anyone have a comment on that? the DZO said ppl should get a jumpsuit first thing offhand to someone but i dont see why u can't just do RW by just grabbing arms and leg hairs. =)

I downloaded it and took a look. Couldn't get a picture, just sound. Any special encoding or anything that you can think of? You'd think by now I'd know a thing or two about video/codecs and all that, but apparently not.
On the bright side I think my bandwidth restrictions are being lifted. I managed about 50 k/s to download it, when I was only getting about 12-15 when my server was running 24/7.

I think I encoded it with the divx 4.12 codec. The way I did it reduced it from 260 megs to 10. And that's with bloated wav style audio too. Anyways, I know a lot of people probably lack codecs for divx--the superior way to encode movies (tm), so here is a link to a program that installs almost every possible codec out there for divx and anything else. All the codecs are not that big either and I use it without any problems or bugs just so you know. Maybe you should make a directory on the site to put the software needed to view all the different movie types.
ANyways, here is the link to get tons of codecs in one slim and easy to install package known as the Ace Mega Codecs Pack. There are others out there but I know this one works fine so I use it.
The link: http://www.internews.hu/dl/ACEMCP.EXE
Direct download or go to the site: http://www.divx-digest.com/software/acemega_codec.html for more information.
Sorry about no 'clicky' links but I have to go take a final in 30 min so no time to figure it out.
BTW, almost all the movies you can get from kazaa and imesh are encoded in divx like this so it's very useful to have. Also, if media player doesn't work the codecs pack comes with a small program called "The Playa" (worth the space) that will probably play whatever won't work (i.e. you get a black screen and only audio) with windows media player.

I hate to give MS more credit then they deserve, but WMV is a slick format that requires no out side codacs and plays in WMP clearly. I personally like it better then DIVX since it has better quality imho.

the problem with WMV is that it is a proprietary format that is difficult to find on a lot of programs (at least the ones I use) that compress or generate video. (for example flaskMPEG to produce compressed DVD content and program I used to create the compressed avi (VideoMach) has no WMV option or codec with it)
for the quality and size i would be happy to use it, but the restrictions and availability keep me away from it.
what program(s) can I use to take a basic avi or any other video and create a WMV with it? I don't mind doing that for future videos/projects to make it easier for people to enjoy them.

Tried it, worked great. I put a link to it in !codec.txt on the root directory of the server.
