raver1 0 #1 May 23, 2002 Hi guys,Im running around seeking advice on what I should be looking at for a first rig. I weigh 68kg's or thereabouts and have done 34 jumps. My canopy control is reasonable for my level of experience. Blue Skies!Raver1
SkydiveMonkey 0 #2 May 23, 2002 For your first kit, you might be better off getting 2nd hand kit - I'd say get a Hornet 170 (or Sabre2). There's no tomorrow - you ain't gonna live it for me - The Offspring
raver1 0 #3 May 23, 2002 Second hand is definately what I am looking at. What I am interested in knowing is about what size and type of canopy/container I should be aiming for, and what pieces of gear I should avoid. Also, how old is too old when it comes to second hand? What bits if gear show excessive wear and should be looked at really carefully when I choose a rig?CluelessRaver1

SkydiveMonkey 0 #6 May 23, 2002 My friend has just got a vector2 that is quite old, but it's still in good condition - it's not really age its the condition. If your not sure about anything, get your rigger or instructor to have a look at it (a good idea anyway). Keep your loading under about 1.1 for your first rig. (Wing loading = suspended weight (you plus kit) / canopy size (square feet).
