ChromeBoy 0 #6 May 24, 2002 I agree with Clay about being scary. Something about having 300 people around you in the sky deploying their canopies around the same time sounds like chaos to me! I will get there one day though!
freeflir29 0 #7 May 24, 2002 QuoteSomething about having 300 people around you in the sky deploying their canopies around the same time sounds like chaos to meNot even that.....What scares me is the base......"OK....1500 ft, turn and track.....wave off......500 ft.....hope I packed a smacker!!!" Tee 0 #8 May 24, 2002 Quote That always looked a bit scary to me. The scary part to me is a 300-way funnell! Can you imagine 300 people at all different altitudes? Talk about changing your break off plan to "track like hell and dodge the opening canopies". That happened twice on the 2000 attempt, my sweetie said the wave came through the formation and it was a good 15-20 feet high! YIKES! Quote Big congrats to your sweetie! He earned it; he's an awesome skydiver Aww. Thanks Lisa...I am so proud of him. Tee

skybytch 273 #14 May 24, 2002 QuoteWow -- where's breakoff start?I don't know about on the 300 ways, but just on the 80 ways I did last weekend break off started at 6k (we were exiting at 16k). Very staged and disciplined - first the outer rings went away, then 500 feet later the next rings, then 500 feet later another set, all the way down to the 8 way base at 3500. You don't track like hell if you aren't in the first group to go either; I was leaving shortly before the base and was actually tracking in more of a T than a track so I wouldn't overtake the group in front of me. I had my own clean air to dump in on every jump, and actually I was less scared at break off on those jumps than on some pick up 10 ways I've been on. The skill and discipline shown by the other jumpers was really impressive. pull & flare, lisa"Try not. Do or do not. freeflir29 0 #15 May 24, 2002 QuoteThe skill and discipline shown by the other jumpers was really impressive.Thats the key to making those things work. 300 skilled people are far less scary than 10 idiots.....
