Iflyme 0 #1 May 29, 2002 Seems there has been lots of shit happening the past while... I guess partly because the new season is fully underway for many dropzones closed during the winter. At the boogie I was at a week and a half ago, there were 3 reserve rides and a cypres fire in one day. And a gal was hospitalized with back injuries after a reserve ride under a round the day before... But what keeps coming to mind is a video from about 3 weeks ago at my DZ. Tandem jump... camera flyer is out on the strut (c-182), and the tandem master is climbing out with the passenger, when all of a sudden, there's the reserve pilot chute between the tandem and the right side of the door frame, just slightly behind the tadem master's head where he can't see it ... you can see the pilot's mouth frantically screaming as the camera flyer drops off the strut ... fortunately - VERY fortunately, they managed to pull the pilot chute in and get the door closed with out and further problems... but it could have been another black day. It serves as a reminder to everyone to be careful about your movement in the plane, and the value of a gear check before exiting -- obviously there was no one left in the plane to give this tandem master a gear check, but if you have someone there, get them to take a look at yours!!! My thoughts go out to all our brothers and sisters who have been injured or worse these past few weeks. "There's nothing new under the sun"
rgoper 0 #2 May 29, 2002 it all reverts back to "murphy's law" if it can happen, it more than likely will. i'm not saying "plan for failure" but always have a backup plan. i'm glad this turned out the way it did, and no one was hurt.Richard"Gravity Is My Friend"
