Hooknswoop 19 #26 June 1, 2002 The picture of Charlie is him under his FX-58, I believe, and I am fairly certain they are triple risers. Smallest canopy I've seen is luigi under his VX-46.Hook
GroundZero 0 #27 June 1, 2002 Yea... that's Charlie's version of triple risers... why use webbing when some spectra and a ring will do the same thing...Chris
skycat 0 #28 June 1, 2002 *stick tongue out at hook*See I told you it looked like micro-line and not riser webbing.
Iflyme 0 #29 June 1, 2002 My buddy Tim jumps a 78 (I think it is 78) Xaos... and he had to land it up on the side of a mountain a couple of weeks back after a bad spot at the boogie in Kamloops. "There's nothing new under the sun"
prost 0 #30 June 2, 2002 A 17 square foot kite. No kidding. Of course it wasn't landed. Intentional cut away rig, but hey you just said jumped.William
jimjumper 25 #31 June 2, 2002 Watched a Navy test jumper land an 18 foot diameter ZP round during testing of some emergency canopies at China Lake CA a long time ago. It wasn't pretty but he didn't actually break anything!
airann 1 #32 June 2, 2002 Unsucessful - 18 square feet - The bag for it was either a McDonalds bag or Burger King. He jumped it held for a second and twisted right up, he circled for a bit . He cut away and that was about it. He made it himself and he said he just ran out of material. Having said that, yesterday I saw a non successful 100 ft round attempt. The 'bag' for that is a big cardboard box. When it works - its great. Its real heavy and you have to zero G the plane (Casa) to get it out. Kinda tricky to say the least... The deployment sequence was in error, 4 people got bruised up. The usual suspects. They try again today. They have a new modification on the BigMama.AirAnn's Video Vault
f1freak 0 #33 June 2, 2002 I think i remember mullins flying a 46 or 49 icaurs back in 98 or 99. back when his everyday canopy was the 69, at that time he had never landed it though. at that time he also said that if he couldnt get the slider down under his chin and the chest strap undone he would chop it because at that square footage he needed to use "all" of the canopy. i will never forget the sound that thing made the first time i watched him land.I want to be just like Truman Sparks when I get big...
