Equal Opportunity my ASS!!!!

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a new job, as I ain't liking my current one. I logged onto the Human Resources Development Canada website, to see the postings on there. I saw one in my field, great pay, and in the city I want...Then I see this:
***THIS POSITION WILL BE STAFFED THROUGH THE PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION'S EMPLOYMENT EQUITY RECRUITMENT AD HOC PROGRAM THEREFORE, ONLY PERSONS BELONGING TO A VISIBLE MINORITY GROUP AND WOMEN CAN BE CONSIDERED.***
I'm not sexist or racist myself, but how can they call this Employment Equity? Does this make sense to anybody else?
Whuffo you sit on that couch all day?

i ran into the same problem many years ago, so nothing's changed. i was unemployed, drawing unemployment insurance and working part time on a gas truck. i wanted to drive it, and the owner (my father) guaranteed me a job if i took a driver training course. i went to my local hrdc office, told them the story and was told they could get me into a course, in about 10 months! i was also told by the frustrated counsellor, that i could get in the next course (about 2 weeks) if i was black, a woman or handicapped. i have absolutely nothing against any of those groups, but i had a guaranteed job while most people on the course were told they had to take some training or lose their ui. p'd me off. anywho, the laugh is on hrdc now, i work for them! :D

IMHO, I think they should remove the
[_] White
[_] Black
[_] Indian
[_] other
blocks in the application. either that or they should remove everything else. like the attached RESUME (cant get that squiggly thing over the "E" that is supposed to be Reh-zoom-may)
I Know most jobs dont actually have the "application" and are "submit resume to [so and so]" but I think you get my piont!
should we just slip a piece of paper that matches our skin color or should we get highered on our MERITS...close call? apaarently in todays world it is.
BTW, In no way am I saying that am I better then ANY certain skin color, race, creed, religion or girth. I have no problem losing to ANY of the above if IT IS PURELY ON A MERIT VALUE!
Life's a bitch, and I'm her Pimp!

I say he should apply for the job abd say he is a hispanic, indian, gay, female!!

That sounds like the makings of a very bad movie..ie: Mrs. Doubtfire. The makeup would take forever. Although, I am partial to gay females:D
