Orlando Fl.

Recommended Posts

Hey I'm planning a Disney Vacation with the family for October, and I was thinking about sneaking away and spending one day in the tunnel and one in the air. What is the closest DZ to Disney world or the Orlando International AirPort.
Thanks.

the closest driving time wise from OIA, is probably Titusville (about 35 miles), the closest from Disney is probably Z-Hills (not sure on distance). then there's DeLand (about 60 miles from OIA) & Sebastian (from OIA, probalby around 60 miles). From the tunnel, DeLand is actually closest.

Come to Deland. what can I say, its the best. IMHO. Thats where I jump. ;)
I suggest tho, if you want tunnel time, you buy some block time (cheapest) in advance, they can get pretty booked, and if you just show up, you never know....

i drove from Orlando intl to lake wales two winters ago, teh drive was between 60-90 minutes. lots of tolls that way if i remember right. the drive to Zhills, deland and sebastian all seem much quicker. zhills is closer to TPA Intl though, about 15 minutes or so.

Two pieces of tunnel advice from someone who was just there -
First, take your own jumpsuit. I did not, and the ones they give you are so draggy that you have to change your neutral body position a good bit from an rw suit. It took me a while to get to where I could stay still in it.
Second, don't overestimate your ability to stay in there a long time. I did ten minutes, which was four 2.5 minute skydives with probably 3 to 5 minutes between them. At the end, my shoulders and chest were killing me.
Have fun!
