Sebazz1 2 #27 June 10, 2002 Andy I have a 4 door 325i. It looks good. Has a huge trunk that I fit three rigs, a misc. tub filled with helmets goggles suits and a bag of clothes for three days into every weekend. It goes pretty fast and handles very well. Service can be expensive but these cars will run forever if you treat them well. Just my .02 but I do like my car.Sebazz........
billo 0 #28 June 11, 2002 andy, i've been looking at new cars lately too, and if you remember how tall i am then you understand how hard this has been for me! i've looked at a ton of stuff, and the only things i can afford in the under $20K range are:ford tauruschevy malibutoyota matrix, RAV4, camryacura RL or TL (used)buying a new car sure sounds like a great idea but as soon as i start adding in the options then a $16K car quickly becomes a low twenty-something car!if you're content with paying invoice on a new car, check out autobytel.com. i talked to one of the reps from them in kansas and he can sell me any car in his 6-state area at invoice, no haggling necessary. not a bad deal, but that would still cost more than i want to pay.i'm really digging the RAV4. i drove my roommate's a few weeks back when my car broke down. it gets great mileage (24city/29hwy, great for dz road trips that i do EVERY weekend) and has more head room then a friend's expedition. and my legs easily fit under the steering column.let me know how your luck goes with new or used, i think i'm going to slow down my search for a week or two.b
Jimbo 0 #29 June 11, 2002 QuoteThe short list is the BWM 325I Sports Wagon, the Audi Allroad Quatro, and the Nissan Xtera.BMWs are great cars, my Dad's got two of them. They'll run forever, they handle well, and I think that the interiors are layed out better than any other car I've driven. I've never been a big fan of the Audi line, though I haven't been in one for a more than a few years. The Xterra is a nice car and a whole lot more affordable than the BMW or the Audi. If it were me, I'd go with the Xterra. (I have it on good authority that they're plenty big for sleeping in too)Good luck, car shopping sucks. -Jim

Jasmin 0 #31 June 11, 2002 I'm a uni student (with a bloody full-time job) and 2 years back i got new (yum!) gear. A year later I thought about getting a new(er) car as it occurred to me that my rig, helmet and audible were worth about 6 or 7 times the value of my car, and when you're regularly doing 700 miles a week, thats not a good start...I went cheap and got a brand new Hyundai Accent ( small car of the year here in Oz for 2000 and again in 2001). A year later, my darling (second to my rig, of course) love of my life has done around 32,000 miles (45,000kms)!A rig, helmet, car and laptop and, after Europe, I will be in debt for the rest of my life!!! But at least I can say "I've got it", "I've driven it", "I've jumped it" and "I've been there"!Don't live life so afraid of dying that you never actually live...NO REGRETS!
