Need help with UPS.

Recommended Posts

Curious if this has happened to anyone else.
I posted a canopy for sale right here on our own dropzone.com. A person in Norfolk VA decided he wanted it. So I shipped it COD with UPS. It got delivered on time and the recipient paid with a cashiers check or money order. That was on the 24th of May. UPS will not take any action to help, they won't even return my e-mails and they keep me on hold for hours. I have since tried to contact the person I sold it to, to cancel the money order and send another. Now I get no replies from him also. Any advice would be appreciated.
I know, don't trust anyone and don't use UPS.
Thanks, Bryan

I shipped my rig with UPS via COD and received my check within about 2 weeks. It's funny how quickly they can deliver a 30 pound box, but not a 3 oz. envelope! I agree that you should go to UPS in person. It's alot harder for them to ignore you when you are in their face.

Off topic, but interestingly enough, we met ken at Eloy and saw your rig. http://bombshelter.ca/~andy/photos/eloy/KenAshBetsyBillVal.jpg - Ken is on the far left.
In fact, your old rig spent a night in my truck.

Thanks to everyone especially my girlfriend. She acquired a corporate headquarters phone number and I called and asked for the CEO. Long story short, they found my check and it is supposed to be here tomorrow. I'll keep you updated.
Good question though, how can they deliver a rig or canopy in 3 days but it takes 2 to 3 weeks to get a check.

Because don't you know... they wait till they have enough envoples or letters or other small things to fill a big crate before they sort it in the warehouse ;)
In all seriousness my last roommate used to work at UPS as a sorting supervisor. They used to consider i think 50% sort rate to be acceptible and 75% to be near records for their line. Thats 50% of the packages leaving their building on the wrong truck! And you wonder why it takes 4 days to go from New York to Boston on UPS :P
If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will....

Has that happened to anyone else? Different story, but similar. Just last week actually. A co-worker/friend of mine sold some DLT tapes (those of you in IT will know what those are) to someone on the mainland (I think in Jersey or New York). Anyway, the guy that bought them sent a $15,000 money order via UPS (signature required). He had a tracking number so when my buddy saw it had been delivered, he called home to his fiance to ask her about it. She never got it. He called UPS and UPS said their guy delivered it at apartment 901...or was that 109?....1099? He had his fiance check all the apartment numbers because they kept giving him different numbers. Finally, he called them and told them (since it was insured and he never received it) that they owe him $15k. They said they'd send their guy out after he was done delivering for the day. The guy shows up at the end of the day and takes them to the apartment he delivered it to, knocks on the door and no one is home. Come to find out the couple that lives there spends half the time in Japan and half the time here. The UPS guy slipped the money order under the door since no one answered when he knocked (Mission accomplished; what signature?). And only the couple that lives there has a key to the apartment. My buddy ended up taking a yard stick, sticking tape to the end, and fishing for his money order under the door. :o He was so mad. Next day he got a couple phone calls from some corporate UPS high muckety-mucks apologizing.
