Sorry to be a bum, but I need to ask a favor:

Recommended Posts

OK heres the deal. I just finished AFF. I am trying to put together some gear. So I am turning to my new family for a little help B|. Im sorry to be a bum but so far many ppl have offered to help me, but it hasnt work out to well (be it canopy to small/someone already gave there suit away/the container doesnt fit etc, etc).
What I am hoping for is a freefly suit (or any suit for that matter). If someone has an old one, sitting in the back of the closet, I would really love to be able to give it some air time. I am pretty much broke (we have all been there ;)), but if we can work out a deal to loan/make payments/or sell cheap, I would really appreciate it. I will definitaly pay shipping.
So here is the numbers:
5'10" 220lb slightly stocky (but in that sexy way B|) build
Thanks very much for your time, if you can help, PM/MSG/Email me, and we can work something out, I will pay for shipping, and at LEAST buy you a beer when we meet. Derek
P.S. I could also use a rig, with a main in the 230-260 range, but I dont want to push my luck. Thanks again ppl

Just a thought, don't take it as a flame, but maybe its better for you to get a used RW suit (square1 has used stuff that can fit) and learn the belly before doing the free. But its just a thought you are free to use/buy/jump whateva makes you happy.

The good thing about skydiving, is that you don't HAVE to have a suit to do it. I went freeflying for 6 months in a $6.00 pair of pants I got from the clearance rank at Target (they tied at the bottom), and an old, baggy long sleeved t-shirt. Look around and see what you can come up with. Go to Goodwill even, or the Army surplus store for some pants.

Derek~
Not flaming here, but ummmm might be a good idea to become good at walking before you start to run?;)
Sweat pants and a baggy tee will be fine, when you get to the point of being ready to freefly. Just need to be careful that the shirt doesn't interfere with any of your handles.
Cheers

hey peeps, no problem. I dont plan on freeflying quite yet, I just would like to get a suit that i can start wearing (for belly flying). I hear that each suit changes your flying characteristics slighty, so I would like to get used ot one (instead of taking whichever peice of crap they have in the student room).
I just would like a freefly suit because thats the direction I plan to go in eventually (and I think a baggy freefly suit would be best anyways to help slow me down a little. - I practically have to fly flat with little to no arch so my AFF JMs could keep up with me. But I was stable w/directional control)
So now that we got that cleared... Sorry to be a bum, and thanks.
Derek
P.S. I am perfectly open to constructive criticism, I have been getting plenty of it at the DZ, but it has been helping immensly. Peace

Get a freefly pants those are kewl!
just a thought: long sleeve shirts (cotton) and long pants (cotton) tied at the bottom. It's the cheapest thing you can find and works well. Cotton or polycotton will give you a slower fall rate. Only problem with this is that you wont have grips.

In that case, get a used RW suit, not a freefly suit. It's harder to do RW without grippers, and the suit does affect how you fly. Used RW suits are pretty cheap.

Hey Derek,
I've got a sheisty old accuracy container (can't remember the brand) (no reserve, no main) mouldering in a closet. I bought it complete and stripped both canopies out to use for BASE. I'm not sure if it has risers (I may have converted them for BASE as well), but I know I've got the reserve PC. The reserve was a round, so you'd have to scrounge up an appropriate freebag somewhere (as well as canopies, of course). It's ugly as venal sin (an awful brown color, as I recall). I also couldn't get anyone to grab and ship it (I'm way far from home for quite some time) until probably the 4th of July.
At any rate, I tossed the thing in the closet last year because that was closer than the trash. Provided it's all still there, and I can find it, I'll sell it to you.
My Price: Your word that if/when you take up BASE jumping you seek instruction from a jumper with over 200 jumps. Oh, yeah, and you pay shipping.
Send me an email or post here if you want it.
