skygirlpc 0 #1 June 17, 2002 Is it just me or do skydivers, as a group, really lack fashion sense? From what I've seen most skydivers must be to busy packing and jumping to realize that nobody wears tie-dye anymore. And grown men should not wear bike shorts or leggings, even if they do fit under the jumpsuit better! Is losing your fashion sense something that comes with this sport? I don't ever see me giving up skydiving, but I do have nightmares of me at eighty walking around the dropzone in a navy blue sports bra and black bike shorts. PhillyKev 0 #8 June 17, 2002 Actually, that's one of the things I like about skydiving. I noticed right away on my first jump that everyone there dressed like me.cielos azules y cerveza fría-Kevin

Derekbox 0 #11 June 17, 2002 I agree with Bill. Who the hell wants to fit in with what wuffos think is good "fashion". I want something I like, if you dont like it, BLAH.As for the spandex, although I dont like to see guys in spandex. It is extremely functional. esp for the guys. Helps keep everything in place you know, its cool, it breathes, and in these Fl summer days, you want to keep clothing to a minimium (esp when in a jumpsuit).FYI I dont wear spandex. I prefer naked. So unless you want to see me jump nekkid, I still need a suit. AiRpollUtiOn 0 #12 June 17, 2002 Quote Is it just me or do skydivers, as a group, really lack fashion sense I think skydivers lack ambition to spend money on the latest trends in the fashion world, except for choosing the colour of their canopy / rig All is well that climbs well Tom
nacmacfeegle 0 #13 June 17, 2002 "Is it just me or do skydivers, as a group, really lack fashion sense"Who gives a damn what I wear? And who gives a damn what your opinion of my fashion sense is. What business is it of yours to judge me by my Grateful Dead tee shirt, sawn off levis, faded baseball cap and tevas......Now, I'm not exactly the ghost of Versace, and I go to the drop zone to escape this shallow minded fashion conscious, 'judge you by what you wear' nonsense. Its one of the few places where I can be me...regardless of what I look like. And I value people who accept me for what I am, regardless of the cut of my tweed, or the label on my clothes."nobody wears tie-dye anymore"Umm, hello? why are more and more rig manufacturers offering this as an option........If you don't like tie dye, then dont you wear it, similarly if you don't want to wear spandex at 80, then don't you wear it.......But don't judge other people over their personal choice......Its all about FREEDOM! tigra 0 #14 June 17, 2002 Ditto-That's part of what makes skydiving cool. I wear what is comfortable and practical for both jumping and packing. If that's a sport bra and bike shorts, so be it. And while it is true that some of us, male and female, don't look our best in spandex, who cares?? Its a dropzone, not Bally's. "Dress for Success" takes on a whole new meaning! By the way, its real easy to tell the whuffo chicks from the skydivers at my dz, just by how they are dressed and how much time they spend in the bathroom fixing their hair and make up! Us jumpers ARE too busy jumping and packing to worry about all that. It also makes the fancy dress holiday parties and wedding a little more fun- we all get to see just how well we clean up- guys and girls! And what's wrong with a little tye dye??? Sebazz1 2 #15 June 17, 2002 Remember these important words:It is not how you do it but how good you look doing it.And if you can't look good doing it enjoy doing it uglyI wear bike pants in the winter beacause they are thin and warm. Plus it will give you an idea how big my unit is And if you F~ with my tie dye I will kill youSebazz........
Derekbox 0 #16 June 17, 2002 Ohhh yeah, Im sure I speak for all the others when I say were not flaming you. Personally I love who I am, and I really hate society judging ppl based on looks. I think one of the beauties of skydiving is how the family you develop allows you to seperate from whuffos/society en mass and be your own person - while not being an outkast among your real family.;) Derek"Its one thing to tempt death, its another to bitch slap him"Daytona Beach Fl DZ: DelandAIM: Derekbox

drenaline 0 #19 June 17, 2002 It all really depends on who looks at you. The skydiving community thinks and likes tie die (how you spell it?) and I can bet that non-whuffos will think you are kewl, and whuffos will think you are uncool but ask them to jump out of a plane and see who is cool. mm... No wonder I can't get a girlfriend, I need to get into style, any advices for colors on a freefly pants? just in case: Its not a flame its just a nice post. Vallerina 2 #20 June 17, 2002 QuoteIs losing your fashion sense something that comes with this sport? For some skydiving heightens the sense of fashion. tigra 0 #24 June 17, 2002 You have a point there. My jumpsuits, rig, main and even reserve are all in my "colors" and more often than not, so are the clothes I wear underneath, and even my sneakers match.(also my gearbag, log book cover, even my car!)maurabut I don't make my cats dress up! AggieDave 6 #25 June 17, 2002 Yeah, talk about lack of fashion sense, you go to a big DZ like in Eloy and you expect people to be trendy and stuff, but they all acted like they've never seen a cowboy hat before in their lives...AerialsSo up highWhen you free your lives (the) eternal prize
