Where do you keep your rig?

Recommended Posts

Just got home from spaceland with my first rig and I was like "hmm where should I keep it" I then cleaned out a closet that hasnt been cleaned in years and put it in there all by it self. Just wondering, where do you keep yours.
By the way I took my first packing class tonight and that is ALLOT harder then it looks. Hats off to all you packers.

Mine sits on my couch during the week so I can poke at it all the time. I look at the grommets and brush the mud off and peer at stitching and just generally stare in bafflement at this thing I expect to snatch me from the VERY PALM OF DEATH.

I got a big, plastic, square bin from Target. Big enough to hold my rig and my other gear. Remember to keep it out of sunlight, away from baseboard or other heat vents/sources. Even if you *think* you don't have to worry about mice, don't forget about moths.

I keep mine (all of them) in my living room, either on the couch or on the floor in a gear bag. At least one of them gets used just about every weekend. Sometimes one of them spends a few days laying unpacked in the middle of the floor for a day or two or three or.............................

and ants, dont' forget the ants. Ants are attracted to low level energy sources for some reason (think cypres battery). they get inside the rig and die, then become acidic. Not a good situation really. Didn't happen to me, but a rigger relayed the story.

Mine is in a gear bag and it just sits wherever there is space in the living room. I see no point in putting it in a closet since i jump 5 days a week and need easy access to it :)"A million mile fall from grace, thank god we missed the ground"

im guessing most skydivers are single and dont have pets? yes?
thats my situation. so IF I HAD A LIVING ROOM i would have no problems leaving there. but we military ppl get the luxury of sharing a room with some other bastard. I dont trust anyone near my rig unless they know what it is!

I have a cat...she's not really a pet, more like an equal. And she likes to lay on top of my gear bag. It's covered with cat hair.

I'm gunna have to respond to this thread. I just got my rig so I was going to have it in bed with me for atleast the first week so it didn't get scared and stuff. But, the gf decided it was a bad idea. I tried to convince her it was only 8 months old and it was still very fragile. No go :( so it sits ontop of my gear bag in the living/dining/computer room. I put it on alot and inspect it all the time so it doesn't get lonely. Going to take it on a field-trip this Wed for, four hours of free jumps from the Super Otter at Spaceland. I'm sure it's going to enjoy the trip. I think it's finally settling down at the house and beginning to feel at home. I'm still worried though that it's previous owner is going to come looking for it. :)"You must first be a sheep, before you can lead the sheep" - Albert Einstien
