Monk 0 #13 June 21, 2002 That's fantastic Robin! Unfortunately I too know personally what you are (went) going through. Congratulations. I burned my "certificate" of completion of treatment. Be careful though...I don't know how old you are or your exact situation but for the longest time, I was constantly freaked out about it coming back. And even now I still am and sometimes I wish I had talked to someone about it. So don't be like me and be preoccupied (sometimes) with the question "Will it ever come back?" Much LoveMonkP.S. I really REALLY hate cancer! However, it Truely was the very best thing that ever happened to me.

freeflir29 0 #16 June 21, 2002 I have really have no idea what ya just went through. I have watched from the outside but never been through it myself. However, there are a couple people here that have been through it. Congrats on beating it. It doesn't look fun. You must be a pretty tough person. Now get out there and skydive!!!! Where do ya jump? I'd love to do a jump with ya sometime. Maybe you guys could organize a Chemo way!!! "Here I come to save the BOOBIES!"

Robin 0 #19 June 21, 2002 Skymedic and Monk are incredibly brave. I didn't want to go through this once let alone multiple times. How did you do it? I jump mostly at Crosskeys. I'll be there Friday and Sunday this weekend unless I start to feel like crap. I don't have "colors" or even a jumpsuit, just jump in whatever I happen to put on that morning. Kind of the Little Orphan Annie of skydiving. I wonder what the girl who posted the "no fashion sense" thread would think of me? I'll be the bald woman with the daughter who plays on the creepers. Not many people know me, but as Kelly can attest, they ALL know Nikki.I'd like to try hanging from the bar of the skyvan. Any suggestions on "how to" would be greatly appreciated.A Chemo-Way sounds fun. A friend of mine has already suggested a "Boobie Boogie - a boogie for breast cancer survivors and those that love them". Gotta keep smiling - I love skydivers!!! skymedic 0 #20 June 21, 2002 How did we get through it?? at least for me...it was the same way I did it the first time..and the second time..and then the third time...one day at atime....just like how YOU DID IT GIRL!!!!!...and I agree with monk... I ssoooo should have had counciling...everytime and I didn't..but this last time was much better due to my skydiving friends...and there counciling....congrats to you robin.....you are AWESOME...never forget it!!!!!3..2..1..C-YAmarc
Skystorm 0 #21 June 21, 2002 My hat of to you guys - Robin, Medic and Monk.I have a friend that went trough chemo, and it was BAD. She had psiriosis (sp) - liver disease that causes your skin to break out in sores - and no medication worked. So the doctor suggested she had chemo. She got chemo by drinking pills.Every Friday I had to watch her being sick, tired, depressed, asking me what she's done to deserve this. I could do nothing but be there for her, night or day. Her mother once phoned me at 3am because she didn't know how to handle her daughters reaction to the chemo. I sat by her holding her head and hand as she was worshipping the porcelian gods. And I cried for her. Today she's clean. But the disease can still come back at any time. She has to be very carefull of what she eats, drinks, ect.I have a pretty good idea of what you guys have been trough, congrats to you all, again I am in awe of you.Don't THINK you can, KNOW you can... Tee 0 #22 June 21, 2002 Congratulations! I think everything happens for a reason and the one good thing that came out of my cancer is that it sure gave me a new outlook on life. I started to have fewer "imaginary" problems and now live each day to the fullest. And for that...I am thankful. Tee
Monk 0 #23 June 21, 2002 ____________________How did you do it? ____________________To be honest with you, I am one stubborn asshole!! I took that cancer bitch and slapped it around.... Seriously though it was 100% mental. This is your biggest weapon for kicking its ass and then getting on with life after this little hiccup. ___________________________A Chemo-Way sounds fun.___________________________I think I remember reading in the calendar of events in Parachutist Mag about a Cancer survivor big way. If that's not for you anytime you come to Eloy, I'm the F'nuggy (F*cking new guy) jump pilot out there. So if you get out this way be sure to look me up. Be tough and kick that cancer's ass!CiaoMonk
