FallinWoman 1 #1 June 25, 2002 So....Sunpath was at Archway this weekend with a ton of Javelin Odesseys for demo-ing. Early Sunday afternoon I demo-ed a Jav with a Sabre 2 190 in it. The harness was a little big.....but ya gotta love the Sabre 2.....that was way fun!!! I wanted to try a container that fit me better....so we they found me one with a Spectre 190 in it....The fit was SWEET. Felt really nice in the plane, during my sit..... Now people had advised me to be patient upon deployment. I jump a Sabre 190....it opens farily quickly. Everyone warned me that I would be tempted to chop the Spectre, but that I should be patient....it WOULD open....it just likes to snivel for a bit first. Ok....got it....don't chop.....(heehee) I had a nice little sit going...bellied out for 2000 feet...then pitched...and BAM!!! INSTA-CANOPY. Where the hell was that snivel they promised me??? SO I look up...and it just doesn't look right....It wasn't really "open"....slam and then snivel??....that doesn't make sense.... Why is some of the leading edge bent back? What are these lines dangling around behind me? Why am I turning?? Are you kidding me?? I have to chop a DEMO?? DAMMIT!!!! Peel, pull, punch.....bye bye spectre....hello smallest canopy I have ever been under....a beautiful pink PD reserve. Kept all handles....followed the main and freebag down...PLFed in a field....GO ME!!!! Turns out there are 5 (I think) broken lines on the Spectre....and plenty of bruises on me. freeflir29 0 #6 June 25, 2002 I traded rigs with a friend this weekend. He wanted to fly a Stilletto. He had a Spectre in his rig and it opened great for me.
