Sooo Ticked Off!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I have an interesting thing going on at work. I am currently working out of the smallest office, 4-5 employees. We have poeple from other area's stoping by to pick up parts and drop stuff off through out the day.

Here is my problem. I park my truck out back, to avoid and door dings or paint scratches. When I goto stores, I park way in the back. I try my best to keep my only car looking nice. When ever I get back to my truck I walk around and look for any major damage or scratches, then get on my way. Usually Stuff isn't noticable until its too late.

Yesterday I was washing my truck at home and noticed this ugly scratch down the body line of my truck. The only place I have driven to is Work and Back in the past 2 days.

Photo Of Truck

There is a photo for visual referance.

So I am thinking to myself, where the hell did this come from! And I got to thinking about who I parked next too. And Then I remembered I was parked next to a co-workers Jeep. So I measure how high the scratch was, and I walked over to the Jeep. Sure enough, there is red paint at the bodyline hieght of my truck on the edge of his door.

This is a guy that I have heard nothing but bad things about, he is a complete ass hole and so on and so forth. The question here is, what do I do.

Should I;

A. Confront him on it, and ask him if he has a problem with me. Then ask for his insurance information!

B. Put A nice scratch down to the steal on his jeep and play dumb (Like he did by not telling me about it)

C. Talk to my boss, then let the boss confront him on it. If I do this then option B is out of the question.

Being that its at work, I don't want to create a hostile environment the rest of the time I have to work here. I just think its really shitty that a person cannot own nice things without other people trying to fuck it up. Normally I would blow it off, cause this stuff usually is done by someone you don't know. Is it any different because I know who the person is?

Thanks for your adive.

Sounds like you are a reasonabe person. I would approach him first. If he is a dick about it I would call the police. Basicaly it is a hit and run. If you put it in those words to him he should do what is right. Or you could tell your boss you are going to approach him.

I agree with the fact that people are far too disrespectful to others property. But pretty much everything is fucked up one way or another these days so it is no surprise:P

you express yourself as a intelligent, gentile type of person, but a proffesional as well. it has been my experience that the way you approach others, is the way you will be recieved. i see no problem with being proffessionally confrontational. see how it goes, if he isn't responseable, he may just deny it, however, if he did do it, he may not be aware of it. in any event, unless he just becomes belligerant, i'd handle it mano~ de mano~

First of all, very nice truck!

You sound like you are pretty sure and have the evidence that this guy did it...perhaps unknowingly. I think I would try to talk with him with dignity. "You catch more bees with honey."

I will share something with you though: I am a huge car enthusiast. Love my cars and always thought they needed to be perfect. Well, this past May 8th one of the closest persons to me in my life died and I witnessed it. On May 22nd, I hit a guard rail, swerving to avoid killing a dog and smacked up my brand new 2002 Acura. Normally, this would really have bummed me out, but after going through the death of a loved one I realized, it is just a car! I mean seriously, it is an inanimate object. We can do the best we can to take care of our vehicles, but shit happens.

Good luck with whatever you decide. I hope it works out for the best.

Wrap your truck in bubble wrap next time you go to work.....when everyone asks "What the hell is that all about?", simply explain the situation.
be sure to park right next to the Jeep.;)

Keep in mind bro, it is just stuff (nice stuff),but you know what the true important things in life are.:)

Life's too short...don't sweat the small stuff. Look at the big picture, and keep it all in perspective.

I don't like confrontations and if knowing that someone's a jerk, I'd assume that he'd be a real prick if I got near him about the issue.

Here's a suggestion: Load up his muffler with tiny ball bearings.

Take a recovery strap and wrap it around his rear axle, run it out to a tree or concrete pole, wrap it around and lock the loop of it to its self with a strong bike lock. Set up video camera and laugh....

no really, go talk to the asshole

Thanks for everyones Advice. I went and talked to him and he was ok about it. He "told" me he had no idea that happened. Personally, I think he did know, and he got called on it. He offered to pay for it and apologized.

Personally, everyone is right, Its just an object. I know its a wore out phrase, but its the principle of the matter.

Again, thanks for all the speedy and good advice! Its so great to have a group of friends like everyone here at dz.com.

Seen American Grafitti a few too many times? Seriously, that would be hilarious though.
