JDBoston 0 #1 July 1, 2002 Like they would say in Coffee Talk (an old Saturday Night Live skit, for all you furreners etc.)... "Intelligent Design is neither intelligent nor design - discuss." Since I started this thread, I'll go first. "Science" refers to theorems that can be proven wrong. Begging out to a higher power due to "irreducible complexity" is therefore not science. Evolution has many practical applications - vaccine development, among other things. Intelligent design "theory" has none, because it isn't science. Schools that refuse to teach kids science are not helping kids learn how to make sense of the world around them. The madrassas in Pakistan are a good example. Hopefully the American Midwest won't be next. Stop the insanity! Joe
scottbre 0 #2 July 1, 2002 The (incorrect) assumption that you make is that everyone here knows what you are referring to when you say "intelligent design." "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project
JDBoston 0 #3 July 1, 2002 If they haven't heard of it, they probably won't be interested in the debate, so it kind of self-selects... Joe

billvon 3,120 #5 July 1, 2002 >must be some sort of bible thumping based anti-evolution theroy..... Actually it's sort of a hybrid. ID proponents accept that evolution is valid in some cases (like fruit flies) but do not believe it in others (as in the neanderthal-cromagnon evolution of man.) They believe that the earth is well over 6000 years old, but not 5 billion. An optimist might say they are taking the best of both beliefs and integrating them; a pessimist might say they are trying to alter science just enough to fit a very liberal interpretation of the bible. Slappie 9 #6 July 1, 2002 "Hmmmm things that make you go hmmmmmmm" So billvon, I consider myself somewhat of a "realist" what would I think? LOL I'll let you know if your correct "Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them."
